About this mod Author’s original text

BuildCamera-Ymiron

BepInEx mod for Valheim: a free camera for building. With the hammer (or hoe, or cultivator) equipped, press

B: the camera detaches from your character, who stands still, and flies around your build. Pieces are placed

where the camera looks, so roofs, high beams and awkward sides can be reached without scaffolding.

Controls

| Key | What it does |

|---|---|

| B | Toggle the build camera |

| W A S D | Forward, left, backward, right |

| Space / Ctrl | Up / down (your Jump and Crouch keys) |

| Shift | Faster (your Run key) |

| Mouse | Look around |

| Left / right click, mouse wheel, piece menu | As usual: place, remove, rotate, pick |

Movement keys follow your game key bindings. The B key can be changed in the config file.

The camera returns to your character on its own when you put the hammer away or switch tools, when you die,

sit down or teleport and, if the option is on, when your character gets hit: while you fly around they stand

still and defenceless.

Limits

  • The camera can move at most 40 m away from your character.
  • You can place and remove pieces up to 10 m from the camera (in the normal game it's 5 m from your character).
  • The workbench must be near the piece, not near your character: standing next to the workbench doesn't

let you build far away from your base.

  • Wards, no-build zones and material costs work as usual.
  • The camera can't go below the terrain; walls and pieces can be passed through.

Everything can be tuned in the config.

Installation

Requires BepInEx (the BepInExPack_Valheim package), like every mod.

  • With r2modman Mod Manager: search for BuildCamera_Ymiron and install it.
  • Manually: extract the zip and copy BuildCamera.dll into BepInEx\plugins.

Client-side only: the server and the other players don't need it.

Configuration

BepInEx\config\ymiron.valheim.buildcamera.cfg is created the first time the game starts.

Upgrading from 1.0.0: the file used to be gfrascarelli.valheim.buildcamera.cfg; copy your values over, then

delete the old file.

Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin

  1. The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
  2. Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
  3. Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
  4. Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.

Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.

Dependencies

Install these first, or the mod will not work:
