Brighter Swamp
Fixes Valheim's pitch-black, oppressively foggy Swamp biome. Blends in Black
Forest's warmer, more visible lighting, then layers a custom swampy color
tint back on top so the biome still feels distinct, just one you can
actually see. Every part of the effect is tunable live in-game, no restart
required.
Installation
Install through your mod manager of choice (r2modman, Mod
Manager) - BepInEx is listed as a dependency and will be installed
automatically alongside this mod.
Main features
- Blends Black Forest's lighting into the Swamp, from a light touch to a
full replacement
- Custom color tint with independent red, green, and blue sliders
- Removes the Swamp's permanent "always dark" flag
- Separately adjustable falling drizzle particles and overhead rain cloud
opacity
- Every setting updates live in-game, no restart needed
- Player wetness and gameplay effects are left untouched by default, this
is a visual mod, not a difficulty mod
- Client-side only, safe to use on servers where other players don't have
it installed
Configuration
All settings live under the "Swamp" category. Recommended: install
BepInEx Configuration Manager for an in-game settings menu (F1 by
default) - not required, since the mod also works by editing the.cfg
file directly, but it makes tuning much easier.
Requirements
- BepInEx (installed automatically as a dependency)
- BepInEx Configuration Manager (recommended, not required)

Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin
- The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
- Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
- Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
- Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.
Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.
Install these first, or the mod will not work:
