Beastheim Legacy Compat
A safety-net patch for mods that haven't yet been updated for Valheim 1.0.
Some older mods call game functions whose signatures changed in the Valheim 1.0 update.
Rather than crashing, this patch repairs those specific calls at launch — in your own
already-installed copy of the affected mod, in memory, every time you start the game.
What it does
At startup, this checks every mod you have installed against a list of known,
individually verified Valheim 1.0 compatibility breaks. If (and only if) an installed
mod's exact, reviewed version matches a known break, the fix is applied at load
time, in memory, for that session — your original mod file on disk is never
overwritten, never permanently modified, and is not redistributed by this patch in any
form. If a mod isn't affected, or is a version this patch hasn't specifically reviewed,
it is left completely untouched — unreviewed versions are never guessed at.
This patch does not add content, change gameplay, or require configuration. You should
simply have it installed alongside any of the mods below.
Currently supported
| Mod | What's repaired |
|---|---|
| Dvergr Pieces | A renamed internal field, and a compile-time constant that crashes on load |
| Valheim Cuisine | The same constant-crash issue, plus a null-reference guard for the Freydís piece that otherwise breaks saved-world reloads |
| MonsterLabZ | A changed effect-creation call |
| OdinBanners | The same compile-time constant issue |
| OdinsSteelworks | The same compile-time constant issue |
| SmarterContainers | A changed inventory-notification call and effect-creation call |
This list only grows when a new break is found, reviewed, and verified — never guessed.
If you don't have any of the mods above installed, this patch does nothing and costs
nothing.

Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin
- The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
- Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
- Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
- Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.
Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.
Install these first, or the mod will not work:
