Adds Configurable Ressurection system to the game

⚒️ Balrond Second Chance
Overview
Balrond Second Chance adds a configurable Downed state to Valheim.
Instead of dying immediately, players can enter a Downed state where they may:
- Be revived by another player
- Revive themselves, either for free or by consuming a configured item
- Release their soul manually and die normally
- Wait for the Downed timer to expire
Most gameplay settings can be synchronized and enforced by the server. The selected Downed animation is a local cosmetic setting, so every player can choose their own preferred pose.
This is an early release. If you encounter a problem, please send feedback on Discord together with your logOutput.txt.
🧭 What Happens When You Die?
- You do not die immediately.
- You enter the Downed state.
- A popup appears with the available options:
- Wait for another player to revive you
- Self revive, if enabled
- Release your soul
- The Downed timer begins counting down.
- If the timer reaches zero, you die automatically when Auto Release When Timer Ends is enabled.
🤝 Reviving Other Players
To revive another Downed player:
- Walk close enough to the player.
- Press Use (E).
- If an item is required, you must have the configured resurrection item and amount in your inventory.
If Require Item For Friend Revive is disabled, reviving another player is free.
After a successful revive, the player returns with the configured amount of health and receives the revive cooldown.
🧍 Self Revive
Self revive can be enabled or disabled in the config.
Free Self Revive
When Require Item For Self Revive is disabled:
- Press the Resurrect button while Downed
- No item is consumed
Item-Based Self Revive
When Require Item For Self Revive is enabled:
- You must have the configured resurrection item in your inventory
- The configured amount is consumed when you revive
💀 Release Soul
While Downed, you can choose to Release Soul at any time.
This immediately ends the Second Chance state and continues with normal Valheim death behavior.

Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin
- The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
- Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
- Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
- Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.
Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.
