AutoServerPassword

A client-only quality-of-life mod for Valheim 1.0 that remembers server passwords and automatically enters them when connecting, skipping the password dialog for seamless logins.

Features

  • Auto-Enter & Dialog Skip: When connecting to a known server with a saved password, the mod submits the password automatically and skips displaying the password prompt.
  • Auto-Save: The first time you connect to a server, enter the password as normal. Once authentication succeeds, the mod saves the password for future logins.
  • Changed / Wrong Password Handling: If a saved password fails (for example, if the server admin changed the password), the mod automatically purges the outdated password. On your next join attempt, the password prompt is displayed again so you can enter the new password.
  • In-Game GUI Password Manager (F7 by default):
  • Press the configurable toggle key (default F7) anytime in the Main Menu or In-Game to open the Password Manager GUI!
  • View all saved servers and their keys.
  • Show / Hide passwords with one click.
  • Copy passwords directly to your clipboard.
  • Delete individual saved servers or clear all.
  • Rebindable to any key you want in the config to avoid conflicts with F5 dev console mods.
  • Server Browser Indicator: Servers in the server list with saved passwords have their lock icon tinted green with a tooltip indicator: Password Saved (Auto-login enabled).
  • Multi-Backend Support: Works seamlessly with Dedicated Servers (IP:Port), PlayFab / Crossplay servers, and Steam servers.
  • In-Game Console Commands (F5 or custom console key):
  • savedpasswords list - Lists all remembered servers and their last used timestamp (passwords masked by default).
  • savedpasswords list --show - Lists all remembered servers revealing full passwords.
  • savedpasswords remove - Removes a saved password for a server.
  • savedpasswords clear - Clears all saved passwords.
  • Human-Editable Storage: Passwords are saved in clean, readable JSON format at BepInEx/config/AutoServerPassword/passwords.json.

Configuration

Settings can be customized in BepInEx/config/Allifreyr.AutoServerPassword.cfg:

| Setting | Default | Description |

|---|---|---|

| ToggleHotkey | F7 | Hotkey to toggle the in-game Password Manager GUI window. Can be rebound to any key to avoid conflicts with dev console mods. |

| ConsoleHotkey | None | Optional alternate key to toggle Valheim's developer console (useful if another mod overrides or hijacks F5). |

| AutoSubmit | true | Automatically submit the saved password when connecting to a known server. |

| HidePasswordDialog | true | Skip rendering the password input dialog completely when a saved password is used. |

| AutoSave | true | Automatically save the password after a successful connection. |

| PurgeOnWrongPassword | true | Automatically remove saved password if rejected by the server so you can re-enter it. |

| ShowNotifications | true | Show top-left in-game HUD notification when a password is auto-entered or saved. |

| HighlightSavedInServerList | true | Highlight lock icon green in server browser for servers with saved passwords. |

Installation

  • Install BepInExPack Valheim.
  • Extract the contents of the zip file into your Valheim/BepInEx/plugins/ directory.
  • Launch Valheim and enjoy seamless server joining!

Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin

  1. The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
  2. Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
  3. Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
  4. Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.

Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.

Install these first, or the mod will not work:
