Auto Feed
Auto Feed is a Valheim mod that automatically feeds tameable creatures from nearby chests. No more dropping food on the ground — animals feed themselves as long as a chest with the right food is in range.
Features
- Automatic Feeding: Tameable creatures within range of a chest containing their food will be fed automatically.
- Configurable Range: Set the radius creatures will search for containers.
- Chest Filtering: Optionally restrict feeding to specific chest types by name prefix.
- Server and client required: Install on both the server and all clients. Feeding logic runs on each client; the server installation is required for the network compatibility check.
Installation
- Install BepInEx on your server and each client.
- Place Narolith.AutoFeed.dll in BepInEx/plugins/ on both the server and each client.
Configuration
Configuration is generated at BepInEx/config/Narolith.AutoFeed.cfg on first run.
| Parameter | Default | Description |
|-----------|---------|-------------|
| Container Range | 10 | Radius (units) in which creatures search for food containers. |
| Container Cache TTL | 5 | Seconds before the nearby-container list is refreshed for each animal. |
| Chest Prefix | piece_chest | Only containers whose name starts with this prefix are eligible. Leave empty to allow all containers. |
| Enabled | true | Enable or disable the mod. |

Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin
- The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
- Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
- Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
- Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.
Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.
Install these first, or the mod will not work:
