⚠️ Important Notice
Following the release of Valheim 1.0, the mod structure has been reorganized. Some items and build pieces have been redistributed between mods, while all internal names have been changed.
🔄 New Mod Structure
Artisan Mastery now serves as the main dependency for other mods in the Distant Origins collection, bringing together content focused on crafting, building, professions, and other non-combat aspects of the game.
As part of this restructuring:
- Shared Materials — general crafting materials from other mods have been brought together in Artisan Mastery, creating a shared resource pool for the entire collection. Combat-focused mods now keep only materials specific to their own content. This allows a wider variety of custom materials to be used when crafting equipment across Distant Origins mods.
- Building Content — Decor and Utility build pieces from other mods have been moved to Artisan Mastery. All building-related content is now collected in one place.
- Peaceful Professions — armor, tools, and other content related to peaceful professions have been moved to Artisan Mastery.
- Shipbuilding — the Galleon and its related content have been moved to Artisan Mastery as part of the shipbuilding profession, including the Naval Workbench, ship upgrades, and shipwrecks.
⚙️ Content Modules
To make the core role more flexible, a new Content Modules section has been added to the configuration.
Entire content categories can now be disabled independently:
- Ships — ships, dedicated crafting stations, upgrades, equipment and supplies
- Shipwrecks — drifting shipwrecks and cargo crates found across the ocean
- Gear — armor sets, tools, equipment and dedicated crafting stations
- Utility Pieces — functional build pieces designed for practical use
- Decor Pieces — furniture, displays, storage and other decorative build pieces
This allows you to keep only the parts of Artisan Mastery you want, or disable all optional content and use the mod purely as a Distant Origins core. In this case, only the Artisan Workshop and core crafting resources used by other Distant Origins mods will remain available.
Note: Changes to content modules require a game restart.

Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin
- The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
- Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
- Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
- Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.
Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.
Install these first, or the mod will not work:
