ArcanumClock

A simple client-side mod that adds a world clock, day counter, and sun/moon dial to Valheim.

See the current day and 24-hour world time at a glance, with a small dial showing progress through daylight or nighttime.

Client-side only

Install on your client. No server installation is required. Works as a local display in single-player or multiplayer. Other players do not need the mod to join you. It does not change world time, weather, or gameplay.

Features

  • World day counter and 24-hour clock: Day 142 • 14:35.
  • A gold sun travels across the dial during the day; a blue crescent moon travels across it at night.
  • Adjustable screen position and text size.
  • Optional dial: turn it off for a text-only clock.
  • Default placement below the minimap.

Installation

Install ArcanumClock and its BepInExPack Valheim dependency through Gale, r2modman, or Mod Manager. Launch Valheim through that profile.

For manual installation, copy BepInEx/plugins/ArcanumClock/ArcanumClock.dll from this package into the same location in your client BepInEx installation. ArcanumWindmill is not required.

Configuration

Start the modded game once to generate BepInEx/config/arcanum.clock.cfg in your active profile. Close the game before editing, then restart to apply changes.

[Display]

ShowDial = true

RightOffset = 30

TopOffset = 270

FontSize = 20

| Setting | Effect |

|---|---|

| ShowDial | Show the sun/moon dial. Set false for text only. |

| RightOffset | Distance from the right edge. Increase to move left. |

| TopOffset | Distance from the top edge of the entire display. Increase to move down. |

| FontSize | Text size; accepts 12 through 48. |

Position and size values use a 1080p reference and scale with screen height. Custom HUD or minimap layouts may need position adjustments.

If the config is missing, check your active mod-manager profile's config folder and look for ArcanumClock 1.0.1 loaded in BepInEx/LogOutput.log.

How the clock works

The clock follows synchronized world time, not your computer's time. Dawn is shown as 06:00 and dusk as 18:00. Valheim stretches daylight, so displayed minutes advance at different rates during day and night.

The sun moves left to right from dawn to dusk, with noon at the top. The moon moves left to right from dusk to dawn, with midnight at the top. The crescent indicates nighttime progress, not lunar phase. The day counter advances at world midnight, before the game's morning announcement.

The display hides during loading, death, teleporting, cutscenes, hidden HUD, and the pause menu, inventory, large map, or console. Other mods' custom menus are not detected.

Compatibility and testing

The 1.0.1 build was tested successfully in-game by the author. No game-state changes or Harmony patches are applied. Future Valheim updates or custom HUD layouts may require adjustments.

Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin

  1. The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
  2. Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
  3. Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
  4. Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.

Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.
