EyeOfProvidence
A mod that changes how you see the world.
About this mod Author’s original text
Eye of Providence
An Ultrakill mod inspired by the Quake mod Blinky that lets you use various projection methods to modify how you perceive your environment.
What does that mean?
Most modern games use what's called a Rectiliniar projection to render 3D objects to the screen. While it's simplier for computers to calculate and preserves straight lines, as the field of vision approaches 180 degrees the scene developes severe distortion.
Rectiliniar 170 FoV:
This mod provides alternative projection methods to choose from, each with their own unique benifits and trade-offs. All provided projections are capable of rendering beyond 180 degrees and most render the full 360 degrees of vision.
Panini 170 FoV:
How does it work?
Instead of rendering from the camera directly to the screen, multiple cameras are used to construct a globe of pixels that all projections can pull from to construct their scene. A visualization of this can be enabled in Misc Settings.
You can choose from a variety of unique projections such as...
Equidistant Fisheye:
Hammer Projection:
Equirectangular Projection:
and more!
Known Issues
- Blood/Gasoline/Portals/Radiant Effect will not show up in projections.
- As of update 17d4, fov is capped to 180 when looking in the direction of a portal.
- The fraud theater skybox does not render properly on all globe planes.
- At the moment, VolumetricSkyboxes conflicts with this mod.
Changelog
- 0.8.0
- The quality of individual planes can now be manually set. (the size of a globe plane's texture is 2^quality by 2^quality)
- Increased max quality from 10 to 11.
- Quality is now a slider value.
- Fixed issue with globe camera being slightly tilted.
- 0.7.0
- Added the Mercator projection.
- Added the Bonne projection (blend between Sinusoidal and Werner projection).
- Added the American Polyconic projection.
- Added the Orthographic Globe projection.
- Fisheye has options for both equaldistant and equal-area projections.
- Fixed Winkel Tripel proportions.
- The map view now uses Tissot's indicatrix to help visualize projection distortion.
- Adjusted default settings of some projections.
- 0.6.1
- Fixed Grid/Map hotkeys activating when mod is disabled.
- 0.6.0
- Added the Pierce Quincuncial projection.
- Added option for projections to effect the viewmodel.

Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin
- The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
- Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
- Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
- Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.
Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file.
Install these first, or the mod will not work:
