BayTurtle's Quick Boost

A MoreFPS Addon

This mod adds two (configurable) keybinds for temporarily improving performance, using MoreFPS as its base.

Known Incompatibilities

This mod is known to be incompatible with Smelter. Since they do similar things (panic mode lowers visual quality), pick one or the other. They may work together for you, but it caused many problems for me.

Panic Mode

Panic Mode is a togglable-via-keybind and heavily configurable mode. The default keybind is F8, but as previously stated, can be changed easily.

It makes many visual and behind-the-scenes changes to increase FPS when you need it most, such as scenarios where your computer is struggling with just a few frames per second.

One-time Boost

One-time Boost (keybind is F9 by default) clears no-longer needed assets and cache from memory, which saves RAM and can increase loading times for some menus, such as UC. It also runs a lighter version of Panic mode, but only once (not repeatedly) and does not make any visual/graphical changes.

Why?

I made this addon because, although MoreFPS can be great for consistently increasing FPS, I still felt like there was times where some really huge battles could drop my frames really low. With this, that still happens, but atleast I now have a 'weapon' of sorts to help fight back temporarily. I don't know if you'll find a use for it, but it works well enough for me.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. Most mods rely on the game's mod loader — the usual route is a community mod manager (such as r2modman): pick this game, install, and it handles the loader and dependencies.
  3. For a manual install, put the mod files into the matching Mod / plugins folder inside the game directory.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; mods with listed dependencies need those installed as well.

Install locations vary a lot between mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
