Four Teams
Play TABS battles with red, blue, purple and yellow teams on one battlefield.
Created by lilzalupa. Adds battlefield zones, a native four-team interface and an integrated map discovery fix. The multi-team simulation backend is installed automatically as a dependency.
Features
- Enable 4 teams button in the game's native Battle Settings side menu.
- Purple and yellow HUD blocks matching the red and blue blocks: unit counts, cost, gold coins and a clear button for each team.
- Native unit icons recolored for the extra teams, with white eyes preserved.
- Four colored placement zones following the terrain. Units join the team belonging to the zone where you place them.
- Default circle with a cross and four sectors. The sectors continue beyond the circle, so its radius does not limit placement.
- Optional four parallel stripes with three dividing borders, selected through the native line settings.
- Zone position, rotation and side swapping follow the game's battlefield settings. Zone visuals hide during combat.
- Mod interface and victory messages in all nine TABS languages: English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Simplified Chinese and Japanese.
- Integrated handling of map discovery errors caused by an unloadable type in another assembly.
Installation
- Install FourTeams Mod Manager or r2modman. BepInExPack TABS and Foreign Forces 1.1.1 are installed automatically as dependencies.
- Disable older local FourTeams builds and standalone MapLoadFix. When upgrading from a manual/local FourTeams 1.0.1 installation, remove its bundled Foreign_forces.dll; keep the Foreign Forces 1.1.1 dependency installed by the manager.
- Start TABS using Modded. Fully restart the game after an update.
For manual installation, install BepInExPack TABS and Foreign Forces 1.1.1, then extract this package's BepInEx folder into the game directory. This package contains BepInEx/plugins/FourTeams/FourTeams.dll. Keep only one copy of Foreign_forces.dll from the dependency; it is not bundled here.
How to play
- Open Sandbox and choose a map.
- Open Battle Settings and press Enable 4 teams.
- Close the settings and place units in the four colored zones.
- Start the battle with the game's normal crossed-swords button.
The purple HUD sits to the left of red; yellow sits to the right of blue. Each extra team's trash button clears that team.
The circle layout is selected when enabling the mode. To use stripes, choose the straight line in the native line settings. Changing the circle radius changes the arcs, while placement sectors keep extending beyond them.
To return to two teams, clear the purple and yellow teams first, then press Return to 2 teams in the same menu. Units already placed retain their team when the zone boundaries move.
The old Foreign Forces window and Shift+T menu are disabled. Use the native Battle Settings menu for this mod.
Credits
- lilzalupa: Four Teams interface, battlefield zones and integrated map discovery fix.
- test / newtest: Foreign Forces, the separately installed multi-team simulation backend. FourTeams 1.0.2 targets Foreign Forces 1.1.1. Its DLL is not redistributed in this package.
Source code, build instructions and validation results are included in src. The map discovery fix preserves loadable types; it does not install missing dependencies for unrelated mods. Internal log messages from the upstream dependency retain their original language.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- Most mods rely on the game's mod loader — the usual route is a community mod manager (such as r2modman): pick this game, install, and it handles the loader and dependencies.
- For a manual install, put the mod files into the matching Mod / plugins folder inside the game directory.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; mods with listed dependencies need those installed as well.
Install locations vary a lot between mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
Install these first, or the mod will not work:
