I use xpadder for instant key setup.
I use xpadder for instant logo casting. This works great, but I encountered lag during combat. I think this might have something to do with the fact that the game switches between keyboard and controller input.
So I decided to just design an instant logo with a controller, no additional software required. I don't want to lose any functionality as other controllers only have mods. I took advantage of context sensitive controls.
How it works:
In combat mode, DigitKeys and right triggers change their functionality:
Numbers Up: Aard
Numbers Down: Igni
Numbers to the left: Yrden
Numbers to the right: Axii
Right trigger (vanilla flag): Quen
Holding down the key should cast the alternative flag
Potions/items (previously DigitUp and DigitDown) are now activated by holding the Back_Select and Start buttons. Note that only during combat (with Ciri_Combat, but not horse combat, not tested yet). Therefore, during combat, the menu is inaccessible. I think it's okay.
In non-combat mode, everyone remains vanilla. However, when the game enters and exits combat mode and doesn't display it (the automatic sword sheath is an indication), people will drop flags and accidentally waste consumables. Therefore, the hold duration of the Number Up and Number Down buttons as well as the Menu button is increased. Short pressing now has no effect. For exchanging potions/items, press is required for at least 1 second. For item/potion use, pressure is required between 0.3 and 1 second. It works great for me.
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
