About this mod Machine translation
Ingame editor to modify currently set environment parameters in real time. All values can be logged for later use with the env plugin.
Real-time game environment parameter interface
The mod is intended for other mod authors: it allows you to interactively change the currently set environment parameters of the default env in-game in real time, and logs these settings to the script log.
It will not save/restore any changed parameters!
The mod is only intended to provide some interactive real-time visual feedback for changing parameters and adjusting custom created/some envs with new values outside of the game. It is compatible with all games from version 1.30 onwards (as it does not change any normal scripts).
limitation
The mod basically allows interactively changing the currently used default environment settings: if there is another mixed environment layered on top of the default environment, it seems impossible to change any parameters. This seems to include envs that are mixed in by the game for specific areas/weather etc.
(The mod is a byproduct of working on the Storyboard UI, it was created as a proof of concept for list menu reusability. So I only tested it in certain areas!)
This also means that it will most likely not work with any software that has env mixing mods enabled, but I haven't tested it since I don't use any env mods.
You can still change the values, but the settings won't be reflected visually until all hybrid envs are disabled (and then it's the default env again). The mod provides a console command for this:
envui disabled
usage
The default hotkey to open env ui is f11 in the exploration state of geralt and ciri. If you want to change this setting, the hotkeys must be adjusted in the provided input.settings.
The mod has an online help popup with all available hotkeys (translations welcome!). After starting env ui, the default hotkey for help is f12. Watch the video and/or make sure you are familiar with the hotkeys
The time of day is saved and frozen when opening the env ui. Once you close the mod, all interaction time changes you made will be discarded and the time before starting the mod will be restored again.
some background information
Most envs parameters are set for specific times of day (these times are independent). For the *same* setting, multiple different values at different times will create a curve, and the engine will interpolate values between the curve points at the current game time. Each curvepoint contains a scalar value (the first one seen in the video) and a 4-valued vector (which most of the time/always is the color definition).
It doesn't look like a scalar *and* a vector of curve points are used for both settings, but I could be wrong. The value used (scalar or vector) and the valid range of values (obviously) depend on the chosen setting. However, I'm not an expert on envs, so if the setting name isn't informative, I don't have it either... the setting values are not validated by the mod!
How to install
- First install the dependencies (modbootstrap and modsharedimports)
- Unzip the package into your witcher game directory (so the contents of the dlc folder in the package go into the witcher 3/dlc folder, and the contents of the mod folder in the package go into the witcher 3/mod folder)
three. Add the contents of "mods/modenvui/modenvui.input.settings" in the download package to the input.settings file in "documents/the witcher 3/input.settings" and to the end of the file (it will be reordered after startup).
- Activate autostart in modbootstrap by adding the line "add(modcreate_envuimod());" in the "createMods" function in the "mods/modbootstrap/content/scripts/local/mods_registry.ws" file so that it looks more or less like:
important:
- Make sure you start the game with "-debugscripts", otherwise no values will be logged!
- Confirm that scriptslog.txt is created in the "documents/the switcher 3" directory and contains the output after exiting …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
