About this mod Machine translation
This mod aims to restore the realistic barrier weight of swords and armor that The Witcher 1 had.
The mode is designed to bring realistic obstacles to weapons and armor, not unlike what The Witcher 1 offered.
It's probably impossible to bring exactly what TW1 did, which basically didn't allow you to carry more than one extra long weapon and no armor. But, I think, this model is as close to us as possible.
The system is very simple. Your equipped sword and armor hold nothing back. You wear them and they don't get in your way. Geralt had his back to his sword, he was used to fighting with them, and they had no idea what his greatest obstacle was. The armor is the same. One could argue that heavy armor might stop him better than light armor, but to be fair I think that's true but should be expressed in a different way than weight value. Factors such as attack speed, stamina, etc. all come into play.
However, the swords and armor you don't have equipped (aka specific armor/sword slots) will be more of a hindrance, to the point where you'll never want to carry more than 1 extra sword and 1 extra set of armor. I left a little allowance there because Geralt has his horse which should be able to carry a little.
This mod was originally part of a larger but unreleased redundant mod of my own, which may require some balancing when other game-changing mods come into play. If you're ready to leave those shiny swords behind and understand that enemy weapons are no longer an efficient economy, then it should be balanced with vanilla.
As a side note, social items have been excluded from this mod. This is to prevent some missions from becoming annoying because of the need to use a specific disguise, which might hold you back.
This mod adheres to the open source mentality. No part of this mod is completely free to use. You can use it, modify it, include it in your favorite mods
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
