Fill individual alchemy items individually

What it can do:

Automatic refill when meditating is disabled.

The first time you cook any version of an alchemy item has nothing to do with vanilla: you first need to get the recipe and also need all the required ingredients.

Oil no longer has unlimited application time. They now need to be refilled like potions/bombs/decoctions. (configurable)

Manually fill individual alchemical items using the corresponding base ingredients from the original recipe. This means that the corresponding base ingredients are dwarven spirit/alcohol/white gull for replenishing basic/enhanced/premium potions, dog oil/bear oil/alchemical paste for oils, saltpeter/stammelfords dust/alchemist's powder for bombs and dwarven spirit for decoctions (which are configurable and also require the corresponding herbs).

You can still get refills from any previous version of the alchemical recipes you've unlocked/cooked (when appropriate), you're not limited to the latest/most expensive version. This means that upgrading alchemy items should always be a good thing for players, without any downsides. There's no risk to yourself by upgrading an alchemy item to a higher level version and can't afford the higher refill cost since you can still refill its cheaper lower level version. Example: After unlocking the Superior Swallow and depleting its cost in a contract battle, you find that you have no need to refill the White Gull, while you still have the ingredients that allow you to craft or replenish the Enhanced Swallow (Alcohest): This mod allows you to use the corresponding base (Alcohest) to refill the Enhanced Swallow again, even if you have already unlocked the Superior Swallow. You can choose how much you spend/get when refilling.

The amounts of base ingredients required for refilling and the filling amounts for refilling are the same as in the original recipe. This preserves the original cost difference between different recipes (for example: the base bomb's base ingredient is saltpeter, but the basic shooting recipe requires 2 saltpeters and 1 basic salvar) and higher level recipes get more charges (most basic potions get 3 charges, 4 for enhancements, and 5 for superiors) so the increase in charge amount is also preserved when upgrading alchemy items.

Preserve the alchemy table/bed bonus by increasing the cost of already charged potions and bombs by 1.

Stone's Bottomless Carafe item rewards preservation by having it serve as an unlimited use alcohol base for potions and decoctions.

Why this mod?

This mode - like other alchemy replenishment mods, makes the alchemy replenishment mechanic more expensive and more involved in an attempt to make it a more meaningful and enjoyable game mechanic for players who prefer the passive/virtual free auto-replenishment mechanics of the vanilla game.

Unlike most other Alchemy supplement mods, it also attempts to retain as much of the original game as possible, changing only what is needed.

This means retaining the idea of crafting an alchemy item for the first time, you're actually getting a permanent character upgrade - without any downsides. This effectively makes progressively better alchemical item "unlocks" a character progression goal in the vanilla game.

It also means retaining not only the way vanilla alchemy recipes progress in terms of the effects they provide players, but also other aspects of their progression, such as the amount of charge generated on the craft/refill and the ingredients needed to craft them. The increasing charges you get on alchemy items also make them more useful for increasingly longer and tougher contract battles. Specific recipes in the vanilla recipe list require ingredients of specific parts or rare ingredients, both to prevent the player from getting an overly powerful alchemy item too early and to allow him to participate in some meaningful rather than random/unexpected monster hunts. The player's first encounter with a tough, poi …

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
