Quen state fails and controller vibration decreases
This mod reduces the vibration level of your Gamepad controller when the Quen symbol expires.
About this mod Machine translation
This mod reduces the vibration level of your Gamepad controller when the Quen symbol expires.
In the original game, the Gamepad controller would vibrate hard when the Quen sign expired. I found this distracting and took away the immersion of the game. I also feel like this would be confusing for players, as a very strong shock should be a major event, not a small event like the Quen Shield expiring.
This Mod changes the vibration level to Very Light (can be changed to different levels - follow manual installation instructions).
compatibility
Modify [content]\scripts\game\gameplay\items\spells\quenEntity.ws
If you have another mod that modifies the same file, you can use a script merge or manually change the file yourself.
Check download instructions for compatible game versions.
Install
Download the mod file that is compatible with your version of the game. If you have a different version of the game, then I recommend following the manual installation process. This mod comes with the vibration level set to Very Light, if you want to change the vibration level you can edit the mod file by following step 6 in the manual installation process.
Controller vibration levels can be set to:
Ultralight
light
hard
Very hard (the game settings default to this level)
Close vibration
Installation steps:
- Download the Mod file that matches your version of the game.
- Extract the mod into your Witcher 3 Mods folder (e.g. C:\GOG Games\The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt\Mods\). Create the Mods folder if it doesn't exist yet.
Note: If there is no other game version in the Mod file download link, then please follow the manual installation process.
Manual installation process
- If you have a Mod that has edited the quenEntity.ws file, then skip to step 6.2. Create a new directory inside the [The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt Game Installation]\Mods folder, if it also created the Mods folder it has not exited. In this example I will call the directory "modQuenStateExpiredVibrateController",
For example
- Create the following folder structure in the folder you just created (modQuenStateExpiredVibrateController):
content \ scripts \ game \ gameplay \ items \ spells \
- Copy the quenEntity.ws game file from the game installation directory:
[The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt game installation]\content\content0\scripts\game\gameplay\items\spells\quenEntity.ws
- Paste the copied game files into the new Mod direcotry:
[Witcher 3 Wild Hunt Game Installation]\Mods\modQuenStateExpiredVibrateController\content\scripts\game\gameplay\items\spells\
- Open the files in the Mod folder using a text editor, such as Notepad++
[Witcher 3 Wild Hunt Game Installation] \ Mods \ modQuenStateExpiredVibrateController \ content \ scripts \ game \ gameplay \ items \ spells \ quenEntity.ws
IMPORTANT: Make sure you are editing the files in the Mods folder and not the original game files in the game directory.
- Find the status function of Quen Expired as follows:
Status expires in W3QuenEntity
{
event OnEnterState(prevStateName:name)
{
parent.shieldHealth = 0;
if(parent.showForceFinishedFX). parent.owner.GetActor()PlayEffect('quen_lasting_shield_hit');
parent.DestroyAfter(1.f);
if(parent.owner.GetActor()== thePlayer)
theGame.VibrateControllerVeryHard();
}
}
To set a lower vibration level, replace the line:
theGame.VibrateControllerVeryHard();
Use one of the following lines:
theGame.VibrateControllerVeryLight();
theGame.VibrateControllerLight();
theGame.VibrateControllerHard();
IMPORTANT: Simply select a line above to set the relevant vibration level.
To disable vibration you need to comment out the 2 lines by placing // (forward slash) in front of them:
//if(parent.owner.GetActor()== thePlayer)
//theGame.VibrateControllerVeryHard();

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
