Tweaking Alchemy's method doesn't completely break the original design, but makes it less unbalanced and too simplistic.
illustrate
Just like The Witcher 2, The Witcher 3 has a lot of alchemy-related issues - some things are unbalanced, and some don't even work at all. The final idea of this mod is to solve this problem and rebalance alchemy without breaking the original design, the main directions are: 1) change the replenishment system to make it more complex while keeping the potion/bomb/oil charge; 2) adjust different aspects of alchemy (bombs/skills/etc.) to be less actionable or less useless.

Reraise
There are now only Alcost replenishing potions and bombs, and its recipe has been changed so that you pay most of its production cost by gathering herbs (although you'll need more of them) rather than buying the expensive base alcohol. Alcost is no longer used as the base alcohol for any potions or decoctions. The base alcohol used to make T2 and T3 potions is now much more expensive than vanilla (might require more balancing in the future). See below for details.
Potions and bombs can now only be refilled with alcohol.
Alcohol bases are as follows:
T1 Potion - Thamel Rye (is the dwarf spirit)
T2 Potion-Dwarf Spirit (used to be the best)
T3 Potion-White Gull (no change)
Concoction - White Gull (ever the concave)
Substance - White Gull (no change)
Alcoest's recipe: 1 Empty Bottle, 1 Thamel Rye, 1 Red Bean Herb, 5 Barberry Fruit, 4 Cortinarius, 4 Crow's Eye
Recipe for Dwarf Spirit: 1 Empty Bottle, 1 Great God Spirit, 5 Pringles, 5 Langolin
White Gull Recipe: 1 empty bottle, 1 mandrake cheese, 1 cherry cheese, 1 Neil Fargard lemon, 5 nostrils, 5 green mold
Shops and Loot
Alcost and Dwarven Spirits no longer appear in drops or containers, and they have also been removed from some shops (Innkeepers, Common Traders, etc.).
Mahayana Spirit adds more stores
Alchemical pastes and powders (as loot) from most common containers (crates, sacks, etc.).
Different regions and taverns now sell different liquors (vodka, beer, wine, etc.): in Velen and the White Orchard tavern you'll find more Taymel; the Ossenfurt and Rednia areas around Novigard will mostly have Rednia, while Novigard itself will have all the liquor, but this will be heavily dependent on the taverns; Skellig I'll drink a lot of beer and Mahagan, but not too much wine, and definitely don't drink your Rivian Creek fruit. Some important liquors (such as red herbals) will be sold in most stores, but depending on the region, there may be much smaller quantities.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
