Have you ever wanted your game to have a darker feel? Is it more severe, but not because it has lost all its color? Not having any color filters, or any effects that would be considered too much, or unnecessary when the desired effect is simple? I've used a lot of beautiful ReShade presets on this site in the past, and there are a lot of lovely creators out there. But many of them suffer from issues like too much contrast, too vibrant colors, or heavy use of color filters. There are great models out there that look to make the world look grimmer, as are the lighting models, which are sadly unfinished. But there's nothing simple, just a tiny bit of performance that looks like what I want. So I decided to go to KISS. Keep it simple, stupid. I made a LUT and plan to use it, just for this, it. it works.
This preset is built around vanilla weather, if you want it to look like the screenshot shown here, you might want to stick with it, or use Vanila Lighting Enhanced, or some other mod that keeps the original weather intact. reduce. But if you want to use it with other lighting mods then it might work, resulting in the effect being achieved that way.
There are two options, Default and Performance. The only difference between them is that the Performance version does not use ambient lighting effects. Depending on the situation, this will have an effect, smaller or larger, but will not affect the appearance of the preset.
The only effects required for ReShade are ambient lighting, curves and LUTs. If you want to use the performance version, it's Curves and LUTs only.
Download the latest version of ReShade from the website.
To install it on your Witcher 3, start the installer, go to the folder where the game is located, enter the folder "Bin" then "x64" and select the witcher3.exe file. Then click Direct3D 10+ on the installer.
When prompted to download the standard effects collection, click Yes. From the shader list, select Ambient Lighting, Curves, and LUT.
Once done, open the archive downloaded from this mod page and place the two presets as well as the reshade-shaders folder into the same folder where ReShade is installed (the folder containing the "witcher3.exe" file). Replace any files it may ask you to replace. (It needs to replace the default LUT texture, as well as the one made for this preset)
When the game is open, the ReShade window can be opened using the default key "Home" on the keyboard. Here you can select the preset you want.
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
