About this mod Machine translation

All new books will go into the quests tab.

I find Geralt's penchant for stocking his books with potions, bombs, and food extremely annoying. We had a discussion with Geralt and he agreed that by now he would be more careful with new books, like precious mission items, and not just some kind of napkin, making wrapping paper or toilet paper (ok, I don't like to completely trust him on that last part).

The thing is, there's nothing he can do with old books - they've been soaked with multiple liquids, so they'll stay put.

Some time after the discussion we finally arrived in Novigrad. I took Geralt to the famous bookseller, already imagining a delicious dinner at a nearby hotel. Or maybe even visit the elf girl...

You know, with the current price of basic sword maintenance and the fact that Geralt likes to use 2 to 5 swords (depending on race, gender, or moon phase), we usually only have water and raw meat for dinner. Therefore, visiting this business is my only hope to have a good time.

And, as always, my dreams were crushed!

Geralt suddenly said he would not allow me to sell any books. Because they are important.

Important... Roast chicken after a week of raw wolf meat - this is important. Or a spiritual moment with an elf girl. But Geralt didn't listen.

Then I lost. I decided that if that was the case then I would get rid of all his so important books.

But I failed. Not sure how he did it, but Geralt somehow attached all the quest items to his bag so only he could take them away.

Furious, I ran away. And sold Geralt's old silver wizard's sword (which he kept for some sentimental reason) and drank some cheap bears.

Then I had a nightmare where Geralt found a ghost in Oxenfurt Academy. He puts down the ghost with ease, but his end is near, as he discovers a key. Library key. Then suddenly Geralt was seen, crushed under thousands of books. Then wake up and scream.

After that, I decided I had to do something with Geralt's new relationship.

You may not believe it, but hypnotherapy actually worked for Geralt! Well, maybe his current unstable mental state is a reason, I don't know.

So I "suggested" to him that books were actually food (that was the first thing that came to my mind at the time). It worked: when Geralt woke up from his trance, I gave him a book, and a few minutes later I asked for it back and he gave it back to me with no problem.

He still didn't want to give me any of the books he already owned. It seems that his care for the mission items is too deep for my suggestions to break through it. Well, at least he avoided that horrible way to die…

Oh, and a few days later I noticed Geralt nibbling on "The Woods of the Woods," so we gave it another go. This time I told him that books were actually potions. This seems to be working well so far - Geralt handles the books with unconscious care (never seen him chew on them again), but still allows me to sell them from time to time. Well, he doesn't allow me to throw away books - if I put a book away, he immediately burns it, and when I throw away a pile of books, he takes them back, muttering "Nah, danger..."

warn! Currently this mod has some serious side effects:

  • Books cannot be deleted or sold,
  • Even if you uninstall the mod, already generated books will retain the "Quest Item" status,
  • Containers with books have "mission target" particle effects on them (but I personally think it's cool).

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
