About this mod Machine translation
This mod attempts to improve alchemy and make it a little more realistic.
Once you use them, they're gone and you have to recreate them.
There is no longer a limit to the amount of each potion, bomb, oil, etc. you can have, and you can craft as many items as you need.
Alchemical items can be stored in stashes and sold to merchants.
Reduce costs:
Brewing no longer requires as many ingredients as before.
Only renewable raw materials are needed.
Merchants sell more herbs (not more types of herbs, but higher quantities of each type).
To make a mutagen potion, you still need to have the corresponding mutagens, but they are not consumed when making the potion. (Be sure to keep one of each mutagen!)
When crafting alchemical substances (Dark Stone, Albedo, etc.) you now get 5 substances each time.
When you make a substance out of alcohol, you get an empty bottle.
Improved statistics:
Potion duration increased by 400%
Mutagen potion duration increased by 100%
Increase oil consumption by 100%
Replaceable base:
Base products (Poison, Grease, Bomb Powder) are no longer fixed in every recipe, but can be swapped out for other products of the same type.
To do this, you must select the item and press X (R2 on the game pad), which will open a dialog where you can select the item to use. You can also use the arrow keys (DPAD_UP/DPAD_DOWN on the gamepad) to scroll through items.
Manticore Armor and Xanthium Soup:
The secondary bonuses of Cockroach Soup and Mantis Armor both increase the maximum number of potions you can carry by 1. Since the quantity is no longer limited, these features are useless, they both now give a +50% chance of getting additional herbs. This perk is already in the game but has never been used since there is no point in collecting too many herbs anyway.
This means that when you wear full Manticore armor and have the "Snake Soup" effect, you will always get an extra herb.
Covo Bianco Laboratory:
Added up to 1 alchemy item before Corco Bianco's laboratory, like Manticore Armor and Pale Belly Soup. Instead of this, it is now used when opening the alchemy screen.
Making potions, bombs, or oils in the lab is much more efficient, and when you make something in the lab, you get two instead of one.
Other changes:
You can use C (R1 on the game board) to navigate directly to the ingredient's recipe.
Items in the Alchemy menu are now sorted primarily by their quality (higher quality items at the top) rather than by their name.
Mutagens now have their own category and are no longer the "alchemical substance" category.
Before brewing something, there is now a dialogue where you can choose the amount of stuff you want to make.
Install:
Extract the files into your "mods" folder (create one if it doesn't exist), or use a mod manager. Use script merging to resolve script issues.
(Optional: Use the command "betterrachemy_setup" ingame. It will replace all mutagen potions with the source mutagen and update the manticore effect, which would otherwise only be updated when you unequip the armor. This command can only be used once.)
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
