About this mod Machine translation
This mode rebalances stamina/health regeneration, potions, food, recipes, and tips for a different approach when times get tough.
Key features of A Wolf on the Road:
The main goal of this mod is to give Geralt more power, but at the same time limit his healing and potion pool, making them more special/useful but harder to get, so taking frequent hits, even small ones, can really get you in trouble.
- Health/Stamina regens are much slower
- Geralt in the book doesn't use flags all the time, so now Stamina repeats a lot slower, but you start with +20% flag strength and almost zero roll/run cost. If you want to do a sign build, you have to use Tawny Owl (more useful now, see potion changes below).
- Potions/foods last longer, starting at around 20 minutes (increases as alchemy points increase) but heal very slowly (higher quality foods last longer)
- Each recipe produces 1 potion, but they are stronger. Most recipes are recreated.
- Some skills have changed, but more importantly their requirements are much lower (the first and second tiers are already available, the third tier requires 5 points and the last tier requires 15 points (flag is 20))
- Recovering from toxicity takes a long time, white honey now has a purpose for existing.
- Significantly reduced the capacity of SaddleBags (Geralt is a wizard and they must travel light). Is this still a good balance (if you really want to carry a lot of stuff, buy the DLC SaddleBags)?
It's a different kind of difficulty to deal with. It makes each battle less about individual battles and more about a series of battles.
If you want something tough, but different than having every enemy take up 70% of your HP in one swipe, this mod is well worth checking out.
Install:
---------------
- Download and install the Ghost Mode mod and Preparations mod (it is highly recommended that you also install the Combat Speed mod)
- Download and unzip my mod and place it in the mods folder in your TW3 home folder.
Now you need to adjust the Ghost mode, preparation and combat speed in-game options so that they are balanced in AWOTR: First, change your difficulty to Story and Sword! This will allow us to set a custom difficulty using Ghost Mode.
Ghost mode settings (not for extended equalization YET):
- Enemy Scaling: Match (recommended, but if you really don't like it, change it and adjust the other settings below)
-Random scaling: 0 two
-No fancy animals: OFF
- No additional level guards required: ON
- Enemy health scaling: 0.40
- Enemy damage scaling: 2.31 (Try to get used to it. If you find it too hard, lower it a bit. It may seem too easy at first, but things will get harder...)
Rest is optional
Prepare to set up:
- Alchemy ---> Select full recipe for all 4 options.
Rest is optional.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
