About this mod Author’s original text

EnhancedPrefabLoader API

The companion mod for Enhanced Prefab Loader. EPL requires it from version 6.0.2 onward. This package serves as the Mirror, the most up to date will always be the as linked above.

If you're a player

Install it next to EPL and forget about it: extract the zip into your BepInEx folder, same as EPL. It updates on its own schedule — only when the API itself changes — so don't worry if its version number doesn't match EPL's.

One rule: only this mod page should provide EnhancedPrefabLoader.API.dll. If any other mod ships its own copy, delete that copy — an old stray dll is the #1 cause of "mod X broke after updating".

If you're a mod developer

This is EPL's public API. Compile against EnhancedPrefabLoader.API.dll to add custom behaviors — your own pack generators, card/item price formulas, shop hooks, and events — on top of what plain JSON bundles can do.

  • Declare EPL as an optional dependency — that's the point of the API. Your mod works without EPL, and lights up extra integration when it's there, without forcing your users to download it:

[BepInDependency("EnhancedPrefabLoader.API", BepInDependency.DependencyFlags.SoftDependency)]

[BepInDependency("EnhancedPrefabLoader", BepInDependency.DependencyFlags.SoftDependency)]

  • Entry point is Epl.Api. Always check Epl.IsAvailable before using it, and keep your EPL calls in methods that only run when that check passes — if the API dll isn't installed, code that touches its types will throw the moment it runs.
  • Never ship the API dll inside your mod's zip. Reference it at build time only. Users who want the EPL integration install this mod page to get it.
  • The API is additive within a major version — code built against 6.0.x keeps working on later 6.0.x releases.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. Most mods rely on the game's mod loader — the usual route is a community mod manager (such as r2modman): pick this game, install, and it handles the loader and dependencies.
  3. For a manual install, put the mod files into the matching Mod / plugins folder inside the game directory.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; mods with listed dependencies need those installed as well.

Install locations vary a lot between mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
