Seasonal Outfits - 6.0 Code Fixes
🎯 Module introduction
Hello everyone!
After discovering that seasonal clothing variations with a slightly cutesy aesthetic couldn't be used with Nyapu's likeness, I decided to put my college degree knowledge to good use.
✨ Major improvements
I rewrote much of the code to give users more control over the scope and objects of SCA modifications. Through configuration files, users can:
- **Disable all portraits and/or all sprites**
- **Independently disable portraits and sprites for individual characters** (Original mod already has this feature)
🛠️ Advanced Customization
If you want more granular control, you can:
- Open the code folder of this module and delete any .json files you want
- If you have a mod that replaces Abigail's sprites, just delete Abigail_Sprite.json
- If you have a portrait mod that turns Pam into a sexy babe, just delete Pam_Portrait.json
- If you are lazy like me and don't want to open the configuration file, just delete the entire file of the character you don't want to be modified by SCA.
🚀 Performance optimization
The original SCA loads a lot of textures at the beginning of each day:
- **Each Marriable NPC**: At least 28 different textures (portraits and sprites)
- **Each non-marriageable NPC**: 16 different textures
**Improvements of this mod:**
- **Maximum simultaneous runs**: 14 different textures (when all Harvey's conditions are met)
- **Most NPCs**: Default, Beach, Winter Outdoor, Winter Indoor, Festival, 10 textures in total
- **WINTER CLOTHING**: Loaded only in winter
- **Festival Outfits**: Loaded only during festivals
- **Average non-winter day**: only 4 different textures loaded
⚙️ Installation Guide
- Download Seasonal Outfits - Slightly Cute Aesthetic and all its requirements
- Open SCA's resource folder and delete the 'Code' folder (optional step)
- Download this module
- Place it in your mod folder
- If there is a config.json file, please delete or back it up
- Go to [CP] Seasonal Cute Characters/assets/Code/ and modify it as needed
**File Description:**
- `NPC.json` - basic file, deleting the sprites and portraits equivalent to disabling the NPC
- `NPC_Portrait.json` - Portrait file, deletion will remove all SCA portraits of this NPC
- `NPC_Sprite.json` - Sprite file, deleting will remove all SCA sprites for this NPC
🔧 Configuration options
**Main configuration:**
- `EnablePortraits` - Enable seasonal portraits for all NPCs
- `EnableSprites` - Enables seasonal sprites for all NPCs
- `PennyFreckles` - Control the appearance of Penny’s freckles
- `EnableFestivalOutfits` - Enable festival outfits
- `EnableWinterIndoorOutfits` - Enable winter indoor clothing
- `EnableExtraOutfits` - Enable extra outfits
- `EnableWarmOutfit` - Enable warm season clothing
- `EnableColdOutfit` - Enable cold season clothing
- `IslandSummerClothes` - Use summer clothes on Ginger Island
🔄 Compatibility
- Inherited the compatibility of the original module
- Now truly compatible with any other sprite and portrait mods
- May conflict with compatibility mods made for SCA 6.0
- Mods that modify the original festival internal code name may cause festival costumes to fail to load.
⚠️ Known issues
- SMAPI may have warning messages due to unloading resources
- Some resources seem incomplete (such as Marlon's use of bow resources in the second year of the Flower Dance Festival)
💡 Technical details
This code should save more resources than the original version:
- A mix of old ways to replace clothing and sparse use of new ways
- Most outfits do not need to be changed throughout the day, just replace the default outfit
- Use new methods for situations such as work, aerobics and winter clothing that require changing throughout the day
- If the new outfit has no chance to be used, unload resources to reduce the amount of resources l …
Install & use Install: SMAPI mod (Stardew Valley standard)
- Install SMAPI first (Stardew Valley's mod loader): download it from smapi.io, run 'install on Windows.bat' and pick your game folder.
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and find the folder that contains manifest.json — that folder is the mod.
- Copy that whole folder into Stardew Valley/Mods/.
- Launch the game through SMAPI (run StardewModdingAPI.exe or set it as the launch option). The console before the title screen lists each mod's load result.
Cheat-style tools may not need SMAPI — unzip and run them as the readme describes. Back up your save before editing it; SMAPI lists failed mods in its console.
