Better Collection Sorting

✨ **Make collection management in Stardew Valley easier and more efficient! **

🌟 Module Features

This mod completely solves the problem of confusing sorting in the Collections tab (especially shipped items), allowing you to easily find missing items and view specific item attributes. Just click on the selected collection tag to switch between five different sorting methods! (Right-click on a label to return to the previous sorting method)

📊 Sort by

🔹 **Logical sorting** - Hand-customized sorting of items in the most intuitive and useful order, usually based on attributes such as category, season, name, location, building, similarity, etc.

🔹 **Alphabetical Sort** - Sort by item name to quickly find specific items

🔹 **Price Sort** - Sort items by price to see which items have the highest value

🔹 **SORT BY QUANTITY** - Sort by the number of times you have shipped/captured/discovered/cooked items

🔹 **Color Sorting** - Sort items by internal color, which not only looks cool but also helps you choose dyes

🎮 Custom sorting

The ordering of items in "logical" tags is loaded from a simple text (JSON) file for each item tag. If you wish to modify this ordering, these files can be found in the `assets` folder of the mod data. Just open them in any text editor and move the lines in the order you want. All items are labeled with names for easy identification.

You can also modify the color sorting order by editing the `color_sorting.json` file. The current order is from red to purple, then prism, and finally white to black.

🍳 Alternative cooking sorting

The default "logical" cooking tag ordering is by buff. But the mod also includes an alternative ordering by food type (e.g. dessert, seafood, breakfast). While this alternative order may be less useful from a gaming perspective, if you prefer this approach, simply rename the `cooking_sorting.alternative.json` file in the `assets` folder to `cooking_sorting.json`.

❓ FAQ

**Why not use the game's built-in item sorting as the default collection sorting? **

Although the sorting algorithm built into the game is good, there are many problems with the classification of many items in the game data. Until the item data is fixed, I would prefer to use the predefined sorting method, which also allows the user to do custom sorting.

**Will this sorting be added to the cooking menu, crafting menu, daily report, or player inventory? **

I'm definitely interested in bringing sorting capabilities to the cooking menu and daily (shipping) reports, but less interested in the other menus. Feel free to leave a message telling me what features you most want to see!

**Will sorting/display support be added for items added by mods? **

While I'm personally not interested in this, I can understand the benefit of supporting mods to add items. If you would like to sponsor the addition of this feature, please send me a message.

Install & use Install: SMAPI mod (Stardew Valley standard)

  1. Install SMAPI first (Stardew Valley's mod loader): download it from smapi.io, run 'install on Windows.bat' and pick your game folder.
  2. Unzip the archive from playbuff and find the folder that contains manifest.json — that folder is the mod.
  3. Copy that whole folder into Stardew Valley/Mods/.
  4. Launch the game through SMAPI (run StardewModdingAPI.exe or set it as the launch option). The console before the title screen lists each mod's load result.

Cheat-style tools may not need SMAPI — unzip and run them as the readme describes. Back up your save before editing it; SMAPI lists failed mods in its console.
