Worthy Dawn Set

by Folken·v1.0·Updated 2019-12-18

I've always felt that the Dawnguard scene was a missed opportunity in Requiem. The questline is easily one of the hardest in the mod, but the armor pieces you get are nowhere near anything your character could have imagined if you were even trying to complete the first Dawnguard mission in Requiem. This mod is my personal attempt to fix this problem.

About this mod Machine translation

I've always felt that the Dawnguard scene was a missed opportunity in Requiem. The questline is easily one of the hardest in the mod, but the armor pieces you get are nowhere near anything your character could have imagined if you were even trying to complete the first Dawnguard mission in Requiem. This mod is my personal attempt to fix this problem.

Strictly speaking, Requiem is not required, but the balance between armor class and enchantments only applies to the mid-to-late game in Requiem - Role Playing Overhaul (not tested with 3.0+, don't know if it is compatible).

Originally, I made this mod for myself because I was always disappointed with the Dawnguard set in Requiem. You can get decent combat vamp rewards even when wearing full gear, but by the time you start the Dawnguard questline, between level 30 and 40, if you're like me, you'll almost always have access to better armor with better enchantments already. So here's a small problem I'm trying to solve to make the Dawnguard armor set worth picking up in the mid to late game to be able to use it throughout the questline, even if you're an enchanter and/or blacksmith.

-Heavies have armor values equal to Ebony but lighter (mostly the default weight values). Although it has less character than ebony.

-The armor value of the light set is equal to glass, but is also lighter (default weight value). Again, tempered is not as effective as glass.

-The enchantments for light group and regroup are the same:

  • Helmet piece - Presence of the Dawnguard: Strengthens Magicka 75, Strengthens recovery items 25, Strengthens speech equipment 25, Strengthens marksmanship 25, Frost protection 12%, Shock resistance 12%
  • Bust - Dawnguard's Protection: 100% disease resistance, 50% poison resistance, 25% magic resistance, 15% frost protection, 15% shock resistance

-Gauntlets - Fury of the Dawnguard: Enhanced Block 20, Enhanced One Hand 20, Enhanced Both Hands 20, Frost Resistance 12%, Shock Resistance 12%

-Boots-Dawnguard's agility: Increased physical strength by 40 points, increased weight lifting by 30 points, increased physical strength by 75%, movement speed by 6%, anti-freeze by 12%, impact resistance by 12%

I wanted each kit to emphasize a different advantage but at the same time incentivize players to wear the full kit, which is why I distributed elemental resistance across all kits. If you're wearing the full set, you can also benefit from the vanilla set bonus, which increases damage taken by vampires by 25% and reduces damage done to vampires by 25%. It should now at least be attractive enough to use when fighting vampires or the undead in general, which is a personal goal of mine.

-I might do a shield at some point in the future.

  • If using Immersive Blessing, load this (my) mod after (below). Regardless, IDB conflicts will hardly change your experience with the mod, but my mod needed to be toned down.
  • An improved Closefaced Helmets compatible version is provided (loaded after the improved Closefaced Helmet Requiem patch (below) if in use).

-No other incompatibilities with other Requiem mods or add-ons that I personally use. When in doubt, use xEdit.

  • No new game required, no Dawnguard questline required to start. If you already have boots …

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
