Pump water from all wells in Skyrim and Solstheim
Have you ever noticed how Skyrim has tons of oil wells, but they just seem to be blocking waterways? Since apparently everyone does, doesn't water have a purpose? Of course, there are modules that can add potable water that can be drawn from a well, but you don't necessarily need the whole package. This mod should fill a gap as it adds the ability to pump water from all wells in Skyrim and Solstheim. The wells I've included appear to have wooden boards on top as they appear to be in the majority and there are still buckets nearby, so I interpret them as "wells with removable rough coverings" rather than broken wells.
The water itself has a moderate restorative stamina + regenerative stamina effect - the reasoning behind this is that running drains your stamina and actually makes you thirsty, but also being hydrated is good for your body... or something like that, I'm not really worried about the physiological realism, I just want water to be a nice good thing.
For your LO's convenience, this module is ESL marked.
There are two versions, choose the one you prefer:
-The standard version has a very simple script that will water your well when you activate it
- Scriptless version (by Skyrimaguas) makes it work like a handcrafted workbench - no scripts attached, but you do get the crafitng menu
NOTE: This mod is inspired by a similar mod from Thicketford's Legend. Initially, my plan was to port it, and I tried contacting them for permission, but since the author doesn't seem to be around anymore, I decided to rebuild it from scratch. Of course there will be similarities, because unlike skinning a sabercat, there aren't really many ways to do it (the script formula is essentially the same, as it's... the basic script that gives you stuff). I hope everyone involved is ok, if not, please let me know.
compatibility:
This mod can be run standalone, or with a requirements mod like Frozen North (you don't have a separate requirement, but restoring stamina is still good for your health), or possibly in Survival Mode (I couldn't test it based on what's said here). It works with Vitality and also adds another type of water that you can recognize as a drink. It is not compatible with iNeed as it adds similar but more advanced functionality to the wall.
As for patches for other mods that add walls, or any patches you want to keep consistent with food/need mods: I'll probably do some IF, these are the mods I use myself, and their authors can use patches as well. I won't make patches for mods I'm not interested in, but if anyone would like to do so, they are welcome. If you release some patches and let me know, I'd also like to share a link on this page for your convenience.
For someone with very basic CK knowledge, making a patch for the location should be easy, just find the activator called "DrawWellWater" in this mod and place it where you want it. For requirement modules, of course it depends on how they work

Have you ever noticed how Skyrim has plenty of wells, but they seem to be there just to stand in the way? Because apparently everyone is such an alcoholic that water has no purpose? Sure, there are needs mods that add drinkable water you can draw from wells, but you may not necessarily want the entire package. This mod is supposed to fill the gap, as it adds the ability to draw water from all wells of Skyrim and Solstheim. I included wells that had planks on the top since they seemed to be the majority and had still buckets nearby, so I intrpreted them as "wells with a rustic cover you can remove" as opposite to broken wells.
The water itself has a modest Restore Stamina + Regenerate Stamina effect - the reasoning behind it is that running depletes your stamina and realistically makes you thirsty, and also being well hydrated is good for your body... or something like that, I didn't really worry about physiological realism, I just wanted water to …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
