About this mod Machine translation

Skyrim's signposts have been redesigned to give them a more authentic, older appearance without compromising clarity or attention to detail.

Since Nimbli Bimbli doesn't have time to develop this mod, I took over its SSE maintenance. The original mod can be found here.

Thank you video creator! Appreciate it. Check out their channel and subscribe if you like what you see.

This mod changes the look of the road signs to a more weathered, immersive look, rather than the sterile and well-maintained road sign poles created yesterday that are impervious to the elements over time. At the same time, it still provides readable road signs.

In addition to a comprehensive overhaul of all existing positions, it also adds new positions in logical locations throughout Skyrim (not counting DLC yet).

Many positions vary in design, with vegetation or small clutter added around or around them to enrich the experience of playing the game. In snowy environments, road signs are affected by snow shadow effects.

As the mod moves forward, design changes will be expanded and changed, while compatibility patches for conflicting locations will also be provided. There are also places that could benefit from additional waypoints, and of course there are patches for the mod that can add new ones for new locations.

Install using the mod manager of your choice or manual.

Sorting with LOOT should be no problem.

Manual Ordering: Placed behind all other mods that may change waypoint positions or add new waypoints. (e.g. after a town or country conversion).

Unless otherwise noted, compatible patches always apply to the latest version.

CLARALUX SSE - has its own compatibility. When in use, it is recommended to turn off the Road Sign Light for optimal immersive results and to prevent trimming due to increased vegetation and clutter.

Cutting Room Floor - Compatibility patch available as an optional download.

Blowing in the Wind - Physics patch makes this mod's lantern available as an optional download.

Whistling Mines - A compatibility patch is available as an optional download.

JK's Rorikstead - Two modifications were made to move one of the stone walls SE of Rorikstead to where the road sign posts were. If you are privately porting mods with FormID 000E6953 and 000E6954 to SSE, please use xEdit to remove its overrides from its ESP.

Show the way - clearly incompatible.

If you find any bugs, incompatibilities with other modules (such as conflicting placements or general issues), or if you have feature requests, please leave a comment in the comments section. I will check regularly.

If you like this mod, please leave an endorsement. This is how mod authors measure the quality of their work. And leaving endorsements and reviews is a great way to motivate mod authors to keep updating and maintaining mods.

Thank you for your recognition. Top documents for the first week of June 2017.

Q: Are higher resolution textures or other styles available?

A: I didn't have the high-resolution source files or the time to redo all the textures from scratch. If you create new files, please share them with me and I will make them an optional download and thank you.

Q: I'm using Win7 and this mod causes my game to crash!

A: All textures are in BC7 format. Support for D3D feature level 11.0 is limited on Win7. Your driver may not support BC7 texture compression. Convert textures to other formats.

Q: How is this different from "showing the way"?

Answer: See the screenshot. Different styles, other small details near road signs, more immersion, etc.

Q: Are there as many other signposts to this as "Show the Way"?

A: About the same, a different location is usually an obvious place to place it.

Q: I don’t like the snow shadow effect on the road signs!

A: There is an optional patch in the download to remove it.

Q: Will this mod affect game performance?

Answer: No.

Q: Is this mod safe to install or remove during ongoing gameplay?

Answer: Yes.

Q: I was swallowed by a firewor …

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
