Control Skyrim's weather with new spells and shouts. There is an immersive version and a start game version (for screen archers). Weather types covered include: clear, cloudy, rain and snow. Compatible with weather-related mods such as Frostfall, Wet and Cold and Ordinator.
describe:
Weather Control lets you invoke the four basic weather types found in the vanilla game: Clear, Cloudy, Rain and Snow.
I originally made this mod to make it easier for myself to make screen archery, then decided that others might like its simple design for calling it in changing weather, and then also decided that people who actually play Skyrim might like it to compliment other weather-dependent modes or just for immersion (dragons can learn to yell to clear away clouds and bad weather, but not summon a drop of precipitation?).
Immersive version:
Three new shouts have been added to the game (Cloudy Sky, Rainy Sky, Snowy Sky) and are learned at the same time as the "Clear Skies" shout during the main mission. Cloudy Skies uses the same words as Clear Skies, so you can unlock them instantly. Rainy Skies and Snowy Skies require you to learn additional words before unlocking the full shout. Note: The first word of each "Sky" shout is "Sky", so you must unlock the first word to use it. I don't think it makes any difference whether you have all 3 words or just one. Each word/spell effect is scripted to change the weather.
Screen shooter version:
Once installed, you'll get Clear, Cloudy, Snowy and Rainy Skies instantly. They are classified as 0 cost minor powers, equip them like any other spell and cast them to summon the weather you want.
Technical details:
- There are multiple types of Clear, Cloudy, Rainy & Snow sky weather types in the vanilla game, more if you are using the weather model. This mod does not allow you to select specific weather modes, only general categories. You may need to cast the Sky spell multiple times to obtain certain weather.
- Weather control does not change the weather immediately. It will change the current weather pattern and start transitioning to the weather type of your choice. For example: you are currently under a "clear" sky and cast a "snowy sky". You might see a "cloudy" sky first, then a "rainy" sky, and finally a "snowy" sky.
- Weather control works in outdoor areas of the city such as Whiterun or Solitude.
- The specific weather patterns you may encounter depend on your location in Skyrim. For example. The stronger the storm, the higher up the mountain or further north.
compatibility:
Weather Control should work with any mod that has any dependencies on the currently active weather, as it will call the vanilla weather types already in the game.
Any Weather Mode: Compatible
Wet & Cold: Compatible
Presator (Force of Nature): Compatible
FrostFall: Not confirmed, but should work
Known issues:
- Sometimes the transition is nearly instant (i.e. you summon a blizzard), sometimes it can take up to a minute for the transition to complete.
- Certain areas of the game are put on the "exceptions" list to prevent you from changing the weather (like Blackreach). Weather control does not work in these areas.
- Rapidly spamming weather types may result in conditions that don't match your chosen weather pattern. Don't do that.
- When you choose different things, you may encounter rain/snow/cloud/blue sky. Try your spell again. Because weather models introduce many different weather patterns, some can be classified as "cloudy" and "snowy" for example.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
