about

This model will give merchants more gold, while the benefits of being a master trader and investors are unlocked. The master merchant allowance will provide merchants with over 5,000 gold. Investing in a merchant through the investor benefit will give the merchant another 5,000 gold, but that means you first need to give them 5,000 of your own gold.

This mod is based on the mod. "Rich Merchant" mod from classic Skyrim, however, is not available for Special Edition. I really liked the idea of requiring some player investment, and there didn't seem to be any existing mods that fit this category, so I set out to create this mod. This version of the mod is not the original port, I created it from the ground up. It helped me learn to create kits while also avoiding the problems of the old model.

Note that while you can drop this mode into an existing save, it will reset all merchants that have already invested to not invest. Your initial gold investment will not be returned to you. However, currently, the gold you originally invested in their store will not be removed, so they will have more gold than other merchants.

compatibility

This mode should be compatible with almost all other modes. The main problem you will encounter is if you use mods that change the main trader and investor welfare.

If you use the "Coordinator-Skyrim Park" mod then good news: there is a compatibility patch that makes my mod work with it. Downloads are available in the Optional Files section. Patches require perks changed by the fix coordinator. After my module should be loaded, the coordinator and compatibility patches should be next.

This is my first MOD. I've never used CreationKit before, so I hope I'm careful enough with my changes so the modifications above will be the only ones to focus on. If there are any other mods that are incompatible, let me know and I'll look at adding compatibility.

Install

If using the coordinator, the only special installation step is to ensure the correct loading order. The coordinator should be loaded before my mod, and the compatibility patch should be loaded after my mod. You can download and install mods using your preferred mod manager.

uninstall

If you wish to uninstall this mod then please be aware that this will result in some merchants holding large amounts of gold if you have invested in them. The 5,000 gold you invest in them will remain in their inventory, but the 5,000 gold from the main trader will go back to the default 1,000.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
