First of all, I would like to say that only read this article for critical analysis if you have successfully modded Skyrim in the past. This is not for advanced modders. This guide is especially intended for new modders looking to try Skyrim: Special Edition on PC for the first time, as well as modders who may have had trouble or frustration in the past.

Tired of seeing Mod Guides that make you feel like you're reading a Hoover owner's manual? Want to mod Skyrim but you're a bit bad with computers? Ready to make Skyrim look better without pulling your hair out?
Hi, I'm Eranor Indarys from House of Hlaalu, here to introduce you to Waxton's quick start tutorial! This tutorial will teach you how to modify it and how to modify it in the correct order to get:
-Better lighting
-beautiful person
-More practical combat
-Exciting spells
-Lots of loot...and more!
If you follow these steps in the correct order, you'll achieve what I consider to be the most important feature: a more fun Skyrim. I'll try not to leave anything out, but I'm new to this, so please, if you feel like I've left out something too important that I've forgotten, please let me know!
Getting Skyrim to a satisfying level of awesomeness requires patience and time. Ultimately, it feels like you're spending more time crashing and fixing than actually getting to play the game. This is unfair to the average player who just wants to play the game. The intention here is to allow players to modify Skyrim without having to learn from it. My goal is to save you time and heartache. I spent a lot of time tinkering with the Legend Edition and FONV. It took me a long time to get it right and trust me, it will save you a lot of time.
I've divided this guide into four parts so you can take a coffee break without interrupting your train of thought. Part 1 will cover the required applications, and Part 2 will cover ENB as well as other graphics modifications. Part 3 will cover WICO, VHR, and how to resolve the "blackface" and "basic" errors that come with it. Part 4 will cover everything else!

If you have previously modified Skyrim on your current PC:
First, you need to uninstall Skyrim and then delete everything (and I mean everything) in the installation directory. Second, you need to reinstall Skyrim. Third, I bet your editor is dirty. To resolve this issue, download LOOT and SSEEdit from the link below in Part 1 below. After downloading and installing LOOT, run it. LOOT will tell you which .esm plugins need to be cleaned. Install SSEEdit, find the installation directory and run "SSEEditQuickAutoClean". Select the .esm plug-in that needs to be cleaned and saved!

Of course, you'll need to download and install a full copy of Skyrim: Special Edition. If you're using Steam or another launcher, launch and launch Skyrim for the first time (if you haven't already). This is important because Steam won't install the game until you run it for the first time.
We need to keep it tidy. Find a nice location on your PC to keep things organized, but separate from your Skyrim installation folder. For e …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
