About this mod Machine translation

Thane of Winterhold should be able to buy a proper house in the hold in a friendly way. Without breaking the vanilla adoption system, they should also have a sophisticated way of getting their spouses and children into it. That's what this mod is all about.

What is Wangarnanngin?

This mod adds the Wanngarnanngin - a simple lore-friendly house near Winterhold that can be purchased after the player becomes Thane of Winterhold. It's based on Jarl's Longhouse, with updated textures and a proper wine cellar, and it has its own mystery (to be explored in later versions of the mod).

There's also a fully voiced NPC that some of you Morrowind players may be familiar with. He will help you decorate your new home, move your family to Winterhold, hire servants, and generally just be a friend.

Wanngarnanngin also recognizes your achievements throughout the game by adding certain internal elements that correspond to the great deeds you've accomplished.

There are multiple monitors, mannequins, chests, a blacksmith to forge yourself, an alchemy and enchantment station, a bard, a carriage (including horse and driver) and more - everything you'd expect from a 2019 house mod.

The interior and exterior are fully navigated, so your family, followers, and NPCs won't have any trouble.

Will it work with all my other mods?

Well, since it uses some areas near Winterhold, it will definitely cause some trouble if you use Great Cities: Winterhold.

How do I get my family to move to Winterhold again?

The system is a bit complex. This is done to work within the vanilla/Hearthfire adooption framework. Dondos Driler (new NPC and your assistant) will provide you with all the necessary information on how to bring your family to Winterhold - again - in a friendly way.

That being said, let’s back up right now.

Prerequisites:

Buy all furniture in Wangarnanngin from Dondos Driler.

Get married and adopt a child or two.

Build Heljarchen Hall and bring your family into it.

After all of this is done, talk to Dondos and ask him to move your family to Winterhold.

That's it.

After your family moves, your spouse is given some AI packages to adapt their behavior in the new environment.

You can talk to your spouse again and relocate them to any other house you own, or you can take them back to Wanngarnanngin if you wish.

I've never installed any mods, what should I do?

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
