news:

28.5.2018: Published on 1.22. Unfortunately, I didn't have much time to test the VR version, so you're going to have to be my guinea pig. Please report any bugs you encounter to the relevant section in the mod page. This makes it easier to keep track of things. Keep up the excellent bug reporting, I'll try to fix any issues when I have time.

Important information:

Requires SKSE VR, download from here. Remember to get the VR version.

describe:

This mode allows you to view your character in the inventory screen using the poses and gear the character model has. Equipment changes will also be reflected on the character model in real time.

Update log:

Version 1.22

  • Invisible player clones will now be launched upward in space during combat to avoid interfering with the world and messing up the AI. Especially dragons.
  • Restoring some control stuff to how it was in 1.1, which might fix some issues with letting people show clones when entering menus.
  • Fixed UI blocking controls at game start. Mod now works without playroom fix.

Version 1.21

  • Fixed map opening.
  • Fixed an issue where clones pop in and out in front of the player when changing cells.
  • Fixed clones appearing when switching devices in a container.
  • Potential fix for enemies trying to attack invisible clones floating in the sky and causing their AI to go crazy. More testing is needed. If you notice any strange AI behavior, please report it.

Version 1.2:

  • KEY FEATURE: Player copy now reflects the state of the pose player when entering the menu.
  • Fixed annoying elevation changes that no longer snap copies into navmesh at random locations.
  • Added more configuration options including scale and height. The helmet can now be opened and closed. Some presets were added and adjusted. I'll add more as I start testing various UI mockups (if they even work in VR). Tweak it to your liking using the provided configuration tools.
  • When you install the mod for the first time, it must be activated using the configuration tool. The update is done automatically, but to be 100% sure there are no malicious variables, you should use the configuration tool and use the "Reset Mod" option.

Version 1.1:

  • Added configuration tool. Allows you to adjust character clone offsets, select offsets from pre-existing offsets and reset the mod. You can find the configuration spell in the powers menu. The mod currently defaults to the left preset, if you prefer the older preset you can find it in the preset menu. There are still some issues with uneven terrain. I'll start working on the next step.
  • Added some extra checks to start tasks correctly. Requires testing.

Version 1.0:

  • Initial release

How this works:

Through the magic of SKSE and a few scripts, when you open the inventory screen, a fully equipped clone is generated for your viewing needs.

Next steps/known errors:

  • Possible issue with werewolf/vampire transformation, will be investigated.
  • A configuration setting will be added to set the initial rotation of clones. After that I will consider adding rotation of the character model in the menu.
  • Currently only armor changes update live in the menu. Once you change your weapon, you should be able to see your pose and weapon the next time you access the menu.
  • Unfortunately, the copy still reverts to the t-pose animation after changing armor. I managed to fix it but it caused random crashes so I had to disable the fix for this patch.
  • When launching this mod to save for the first time, your character will take off his clothes. Not high priority on my list, but it will be fixed eventually.
  • Please post all your suggestions and ideas to the talk page or Reddit. If you have a good idea to make VR more immersive or fun, then chances are, I might turn it into a mod.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
