introduce
In the Second Age, dremora pirate captain Velehk Sain terrorized the Abecean Sea. In Midden Dark there is a strange long black gauntlet whose purpose was forgotten in time. In the early days of the Fourth Age, four students from the College of Winterhold died under mysterious circumstances. The only clue was the long black glove wearing four strange rings. Now, just a month ago, four more students from Winterhold disappeared, unbeknownst to the university faculty, these four students were with them.
Change log
1.0.1: Version 1.0 unfortunately suffered from issues with bsa files, which meant that the mod could not find the ring model. I repackaged them and everything seems fine now. I'm sorry. I've added quick clues to the spoilers section under "Installation" to help you find rings that have already seen version 1.0.
About this Mod
This mod was inspired by the blessing of Sirandar, the author of The Missing Apprentices Quest Fix (MAQF).
Spoiler: Show
Two versions of this mod are provided. The first, full version, requires MAQF and passes the proxy Cropped Room (CRF). The second is a standalone version containing only my changes and additions. If you choose the standalone version, all the new content this mod offers will still be fully functional, but it will be harder to find and you will lack context when you do it.
A detailed list of changes will naturally spoil even more than the above!

Install and uninstall
This mod contains a bsa archive containing a script file and its source. If you're new to installing Skyrim mods, please see the guide.
You plan to install this mod or anything related to Velehk Sain before starting the Missing Apprentices mission, but since it only changes the environment and gameplay, the mod will still work even with partial progress.
Spoiler: Show
This mod uses scripts to handle interaction with the four rings placed in the world, so if you have already interacted with them, you may experience glitches when uninstalling. If you find that the mod isn't to your liking, it's best to go back and save your game before installing. If that's not possible, delete all inventory items related to this mod, uninstall, resave your game, and if anything doesn't look right, try cleaning your save game using Fallrim Tools.
Compatibility and conflicts
This mod mainly adds new content to the game, so conflicts should be few and far between. That said:
This mod forwards all fixes done by USSEP.
Load this mod before any mod that makes global changes, such as lights, sounds, music, or water.
Load this mod after MAQF and CRF. (LOOT will do this automatically based on the master dependency.)
Load this mod after Weapons Armor Clothing and Clutter Fixes, as they both modify four rings. To compensate for the conflict, I accepted the ring weights proposed by WACCF.
Load this mod after Immersive Weapons while editing Velehk Sain. Immersive armor on the other hand changes without direct contact with Velehk, so there is no conflict.
While the direct conflict can be resolved by loading this mod after Immersive College of Winterhold, this mod gives the investigator's chest a small room of its own, a space that is apparently empty since this mod removes the chest entirely. Winterhold Academy of Magic and Apepi's Winterhold Academy also adjusted the position of the investigator's chest, so load this model again to keep this mod removing the chest.
There is no apparent conflict with the College of Winterhold upgrade.

This mod introduces some new artifacts and gameplay changes that have only been tested to my personal taste to determine difficulty and balance. Combat encounters were redesigned to introduce a leveled enemy. The fairly hard-to-obtain new artifacts come with drawbacks and benefits that are rarely seen in …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
