About this mod Machine translation
One blow, one blow. With or without quests, another unique and powerful bow can be added to the game.
So what makes Vanessa special? She's lethal with one shot.
If you keep her under control, almost any target will die in one hit (if it's killable), even if you hit them on the knee. I don't want to make a mask weapon, so there are two main weaknesses.
- Single-shot exceptions: unique bosses and dragons (dungeons, outside world and DLC bosses including the likes of Harkon and the Ebony Warrior). *
- You can only shoot five (5) times before you need to recharge the instakill effect.
Start making the mat:
-Dwarf bow x1
- Big Soul Gem (refill) x1
- Moonstone ingot x1
Bow specifications:
- There are no special requirements for the regular version, so you can start crafting as soon as you have the materials
- Working at Smithing Station under the dwarves (obviously)
- Can be "sharpened" (requires arcane enchantment)
- Cannot be disillusioned
- Uses the model and base statistics of the dwarf bow, except:
- Critical chance increased to 30% (you won't be completely screwed if you run out of gems)
- Critical damage doubled (base damage only, not sure how additional damage is added)
-Weighs slightly less than a dwarven bow
A better version of Vanessa is also included, which is required to make the "Basic" version (as well as other premium pads). She uses Daedric Bow's model and base stats, with more capacity (7 shots) and additional enchantments.
How to get it without crafting:
You can find Vanessa on a wooden chest near Shura of Azura.
Improved versions can be obtained by performing quests (if you don't like crafting). You start at the Mixwater Mill inside the Worker's House. This mission does have some issues (mainly with the dialog boxes).
compatibility:
This mod is compatible with almost anything. It does not change the vanilla content, except for three cells:
- ShrineofAzuraExterior04 because the bow is there
- ReachwindEyrie01 and MixwaterMillWorkersHouse have added NPCs in these locations due to this quest
Also, this works for Skyrim VR. I actually only play in VR, but I did a quick test in the special edition just to take screenshots.
For maximum compatibility with other mods, I've added a "lite" version. There aren't any quests or worlds to discover as it doesn't change any vanilla content AFAIK. The only way to obtain a bow is through crafting or console commands.
If you find your bag full of soul gems and like killing junk monsters quickly for any reason (or just getting that broad smile after a single hit), this mod is for you.
- = I may have missed some bosses that should be immune (again, I only added unique bosses), especially those with DLC. If I do, please let me know. Yes, I'm sure I did.
Update log:
Version 1.01: Added Thorek, Veren and Erandur to the "Immunity List". Murdering Erandur prevents the awakening nightmare from continuing, so I highly recommend updating (or remembering not to use Vanessa). Also, now the "lite" version is very streamlined and doesn't include any extra shit (the .esp file still contains some useless stuff.)

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
