About this mod Machine translation

Vampiric Thirst Rework is intended as an update to the Vampiric Thirst mod, allowing you to play and enjoy it on Skyrim Special Edition.

Welcome to Vampiric Thirst Redone

First off, this is an official port of Vampiric Thirst Redone, intended as an update to the Vampiric Thirst mod so that you can play and enjoy it on Skyrim Special Edition, additional details are on the Vampiric Thirst mod page.

You see the original mod has not been ported, and due to the lack of the original mod author it probably never will be, but that's why I'm here, you see VTR SSE is intended as an update for the Vampiric Thirst mod. Given that the mod author has left the building, some of the scripts that were present in Vampiric Thirst have been updated for the SSE CC updates, and there are some other fixes for bugs present in Vampiric Thirst that have been remedied in the Vampiric Thirst rework.

  • Instructions on how to install -
  • Download Vampiric Thirst - Dawnguard Edition
  • Open and save Vampire Thirst in Skyrim Special Edition CK64
  • Unzip Oldrim BSA into loose files (Oldrim BSA does not work in SSE)
  • Download Vampiric Thirst Redone and install it/load it after Vampiric Thirst
  • Play with the damn thing...you can thank me later!

What changed from Vampire Thirst?

  • Updated PlayerVampireQuestScript for SSE CC initial update -
  • Sanguine FX now correctly removes from players after casting and reinstalling the game -
  • Corpse puppets other than vampires are now projected by hand to be consistent with the VL version -
  • Fount of Power now uses the blue hand casting art as it better suits the color of the spell -
  • Shambling Hordes provides a red shader for those who are resurrected as it is more suitable -
  • "Blood Shroud" has a red hand casting art because it didn't have one before -
  • If your spell absorption rate is high, "Bat" and "Magic Gargoyle" will no longer be absorbed -
  • Several typos in the mod message have been fixed -
  • Removed annoying "prefixes" from all vampire abilities to make them more consistent with other spells -

Frequently asked questions...

Q: Where are the perks of the "Oldrim" version?

A. VTR SSE is more like a 3rd party patch for Vampiric Thirst, so it works on SSE and is very different from the oldrim mod, and if I were you I would appreciate that you can play it on SSE now.

Q: Why do you have so many vampire mods?

A. Vampires are awesome, I have my own vampire mod, personally at the current time I prefer VT, I also have a Lich mod and am working on a second Lich mod, I have an enemy AI mod and several other non-vampire based mods thank you very much.

Q: Does this apply to Curse of the Vampire, VanTal, Sanguinare Vampiris, Better Vampire or Sacrosanct?

A. No, no, no, no, no, I want it to work with Curse of the Vampire (which you should definitely check out) so that I don't have to choose between my own creation and the greatest Vampire mods ever created.

Q: Can you port this to console?

A: This is not possible, Vampire Thirst needs to be officially ported by the original mod author, Miss Leeches AKA, I am in a position as far as permissions to continue porting the original mod that I have absolutely no idea about and therefore it cannot be done.

Q. Aghhh my game crashed RAGE QUIT, I need to tell my mom!

A. You do... While this mod most likely didn't cause it, "most" of the edits you see in the SSE edits are there so let me assure you, don't be afraid that I fully understand them.

Modification request...

  • Vampiric Thirst Dawnguard Edition  -
  • Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition Patch -
  • SKSE 64  -
  • Sky UI -

And make sure to support the Vampiric Thirst back in Oldrim, I personally think this is the best vampire overhaul out there, I have my own vampire overhaul so that's saying something.

(Also users report that running FNIS breaks VT's animations, so don't do it even if the original mod tells you to, with the changes to the Corpse Marrionette spell you don't even need FNIS for VT)

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
