I hate it when tasks start automatically. Whether it's a mod, a DLC pack, or what we call a download from the Creation Club, if installing it causes a certain quest to appear only in my diary, I'm not a fan. Immersive destruction is one of them. Downloading some content from CC and suddenly I had to accept that my character heard three rumors and received a message in one go - at the bottom of the dungeon, no less!

Therefore, I am taking it upon myself to rectify the situation and intend to work on all the files on the Creation Club one by one so that the missions can start in a more immersive way and make other improvements as I see fit.

After installing this patch, "Missing Libraries" will no longer automatically launch when loading the game. Instead, the note will appear in Tolfdir's room in Winterhold Academy's Hall of Achievement. Reading it will start the quest. After that, everything should continue as normal.

Additionally, "familiar" shaders have been applied to summonable Bears, named spells ("Fenrik's Welcome," "Mara's Wrath," etc. have been removed from the level list), and some balancing has been implemented. See the change log for details.

Midgetalien also offers a number of enhancements: robes are now enchantable, a seductive staff has been added for each new spell, and unnamed spells have been removed from quest rewards for the sake of balance and progression. New personnel and unworn robes have also been added to the level list via Bethesda's Arcane Accessories launch script, so no Bashed Patch is required.

For best results, do not install this patch on a save that already has Arcane Accessories installed. If you do this, it won't break your game, but you won't benefit from some of the fixes and you may experience unusual search behavior.

Install

Make sure you have downloaded and installed the Arcane accessory from Creation Club.

Download and install the patch, preferably using NMM or MO. If you want to do it manually, you can simply drag and drop the .esp and script files into the Data folder.

enjoy your meal!

Uninstall

Uninstall the patch using your Mod Manager, or delete the .esp file from your "data" folder. This should safely revert all my changes back to their original state. However, in general, Skyrim does not support uninstalling mods during playback, which is a practice that should be treated with caution.

FAQ

Q: I just want to stop the quest without any new content. What should I do?

A: Please use v1.0 in the "Documents" section.

Q: Can I use Midgetalien's Arcane accessory patch with this mod?

A: All Arcane Accessories patches for Midgetalien are included in this mod v1.1. Therefore, you should uninstall them if version v1.1 or higher is installed. If you try to combine them with this mod, you will get duplicate staffs and robes, which while it won't break your game, will definitely cause strange behavior. If you don't want to use their effects in your game, or only want one or two of them, install v1.0 of this mod, then install any mods for Midgetalien that you want.

Q: I found a bug! Can you solve it?

Answer: Of course! Notify me in the "Bug Reports" section and I will upload a new version as soon as possible.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
