Looking for potentially impossible and game-breaking challenges?

The best weapons and armor...the highest level quest rewards...you can put them all at level 1...

If you can defeat the toughest enemies and creatures!

Optional files activated?

This includes all NPCs that have been previously leveled against the player, friends or enemies!

The method applied to the main file is to use SSEEdit 3.2 to change the "Level" under all level list entries to 1. Encounter areas and game settings will not be touched. This also means that only level lists for vanilla Skyrim SE (i.e. including the DLC ESM) are affected; adding your own mods will work as intended by the mod creator.

NPCs that were previously level-scaled with the player are not in the level list, so optional files must be used.

The method applied to optional files is to use SSEEdit 3.2 to change the "Calc Min Level" in the non-player character (Actor) entry to match the "Calc Max Level" entry. With "Calc Max Level" or both entries set to 0, I added levels based on similar NPC classes.

Still not sure how to remove the level requirements for missions, so it could be that the game is inconsistent with me.

In existing games/save files, areas may take time to reset and adjust to new level list entries. Try sleeping in an indoor cell for 10 days.

Please let me know if you have any questions and be very specific, including the location and type of enemies/containers/vendors you encounter.

Requirements and compatibility:

The only requirement is the unofficial Skyrim Special Edition patch.

There may be conflicts between this mod and other mods where both they and the main file make changes to the same vanilla records in the level list and/or where both they and the optional files make changes to the same vanilla NPC records.

If you're worried, you can:

Try the game and see what happens

Ask me if I know something and can find out and/or am I willing to make a patch

Mod authors of other mods can be found out if they know and/or they are willing to make patches

Known issues:

Due to the different versions used in the game, some NPCs may still be at a lower level than they should be. For example, the general Tullius seen in Helgen and Castle Dour is level 10, not the level 50 you see in the Battle of Windhelm. The same goes for Kodlak Whitemane: he will be level 10 in Jorrvaskr and level 50 in Sovngarde.

Still not sure how to remove level requirements on quests, so this may be as far as unleveling the game goes with me.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
