underwater explosion spell
This was the first pattern I shared with others. It introduces a spell that uses the underwater explosion spell as a lesser power. It can be converted using a smaller power/shout key. This can be done without using your hands, meaning you can use it underwater. It can also run in water, but it's not very powerful.

More details on why I do this:
I was reading a review for another mod and someone mentioned the nasty carnage that ruins underwater exploration. I didn't use any of the huge magic bonus mods, but I imagine some of them might have underwater spells. The reason I never worried about Slaughter or any other underwater creature is because the first model I ported to SE myself was Brhuce Legacy by Dwemer God trainwiz
So, I looked at his spell and decided to try to make something similar using vanilla assets. What I ended up with was a hail actor as a lesser force. I went with Ice Spikes because the fire and shock spells might cause more complaints about realism. Ice spikes will also stick to targets, letting you see if you actually hit them.
Afterwards, I messaged trainwiz and asked him if he'd be willing to post some content, but he's currently working on a new game called Underspace, which you can check out on Steam if you're interested.
So, you're stuck with me.
Spell versions should be added to the broken spell vendors at the start of a new game, but I've placed a few others around the world. So you can use it with your existing save, but you may want to select the book from one of the spoiler locations below.

Installation: Use the mod manager of your choice or manually place it into the data folder
To uninstall: Use your mod manager of choice or manually delete it from the data folder; it is not recommended, but if you delete it then you should do a "clean save" on the save file and/or use Fallrim Tools' Resaver.
I will provide a normal .esp and a .esl tagged .esp, just use one or the other, not both. Both have been cleaned with SSEEdit.
Hope someone will find this mod useful.

A little more detail about why I made this:
I was reading a comment on another mod and someone mentioned the annoying slaughterfish that ruin underwater exploration. I don't use any of the huge magic add-on mods, but I figured some of them probably had underwater spells. The reason I never worried about slaughterfish or any other underwater creatures is because one the first mods I ported to SE for myself was Brhuce Legacy by the Dwemer God trainwiz It gives you a custom spell that trainwiz created to allow you to fight in space. It also works underwater.
So, I looked at his spell and decided to try to make something similar using only vanilla assets. What I ended up with was an ice spike cast as a lesser power. I chose ice spike because fire and shock spells would probably cause a few more complaints about realism. Ice spike also sticks to the target and allows you to see whether you actually hit them or not.
Afterwards, I messaged trainwiz and asked if he would like to release something instead, but he is currently busy making a new game called Underspace which you can check out on Steam if you might be interested.
So, you are stuck with mine.
The spell tome should be added to destruction spell vendors at the start of a new game, but I've placed a few around the world to be found otherwise. So, you can use this with an existing save, but you'll probably need to pick the book up from one of the spoiler locations below.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
