true fantasy

Adds a range of illusion spells with "real" illusions. Illusions do no damage and can be used to distract enemies.

This addon (esp only) works with Skyrim Legendary Edition (Oldrim) without problems either :D

So yeah, I don't like how NPCs comment on my "fantasies" even though the only illusion magic available doesn't really have "fantasies". Illusion magic is supposed to be the art of mind control, but I see no reason "summoning illusions" shouldn't be a thing.

This is my take on illusion spells. This plugin adds a set of summonable illusion spells.

Spells:

• Fake fire: cast fake fire. People on fire will flee from combat for 10 seconds (because they think they are on fire).
• Fake fireball: shoot fireball. A remote version of fake fire.
• Summon Illusion - Dog: Summons the illusion of a dog that distracts enemies.

Summon Illusion - Orc: Summons an illusion of an orc to fight against your enemies.

• Summon Illusion - Saber Cat: Summons the illusion of a sword cat capable of fighting your enemies.
• Summon Illusion - Dremora: Summons an illusion of Dremora that can fight your enemies.
• Summon Illusion - Dragon: Summons the illusion of a dragon that can fight against enemies.

Illusions do no harm (because they are...illusions...).

This spell is designed to distract enemies and keep them away from the player. They cannot be used to kill enemies.

where to get spells

You can buy the wizard Irvil's spells in the area between Helgen and Riverwood (see image).

Alternatively, you can kill him and take the book from him (although he will kick you in the back if your level is low). Since Irvil is not marked as necessary, he can also be killed by NPCs or Skyrim physics.

There is only one copy of each book unless you use console commands.

Irvil has his own schedule. He will head to the Riverwood Trader for an afternoon drink at Morndas, the Sleeping Giant Inn for a drink at Middas in the evening and a drink at the Dead's Man Drink in Falkreath at Fredas evening. The rest of the time he can be found practicing spells or studying around the area shown in the picture.

You can also use Irvil's camp as a base if needed. He doesn't mind :D

Have a sheet and a backpack that you can use safely. It's a pretty cold area though.

This is a work in progress and I will be adding more spells and features over time.

If anyone knows of an easy way to make NPCs use illusion magic, please let me know :D

Known issues:

If you summon an illusion of a dragon without fighting, sometimes they will start spinning and flying away.

However, they work fine in combat. Be sure to start the fight before summoning Dragon Fantasy.

This is not my fault but a faulty feature in the game.

NPCs fleeing combat will use normal "fear" dialogue ("I can't best you" etc.). I'll fix this once I figure out how to get them to use "I'm on Fire" without changing the other illusion spells.

Install

Download and install using your preferred mod manager.

Either

Put the .esp into the Data folder (seriously, use a mod manager for your mods).

uninstall

Use your mod manager to disable and remove.

Either

Delete "True Illusions.esp" from the Data folder.

It can be safely uninstalled at any time.

Disclaimer and message from the author

I made this plugin for myself because I wanted to "cast the fantasy" as the guards kept telling me.

I'm not sure it's quite balanced, but it serves its purpose.

Of course if you use magic gear and get every perk you will easily cast illusions for guards :)

I only tested with vanilla Skyrim SE and found no issues, if you find any conflicts or issues with other mods please let me know again.
