About this mod Machine translation
Mods that add equipment, toys, and books to your adopted Hearthfire child.
What do Skyrim's orphans really need? More toys! I mean, like... more toys.
That's what this mod does: bring and carry a variety of new toys and items for your adopted child. There are dolls, toy dragons, teddy bears, stuffed bunnies, musical instruments, fur coats and books. Why? Just for fun!
This is a port of Anshela's original mod, with permission.
How it works:
You need a copy of the book "Childcraft" in your inventory to craft the item. There is a copy in the Riverwood Trader, on the little shelf to the right as you come in. As long as you have this book in your inventory, you can create all items under the Misc category of Tanning Rack.
Give items to your children and they will equip them! Toys and books come with protective covers, and the back holds hammers and strings. There is also a book that can be worn on the right rear hip. Your child will then take the toy with them wherever they go. All items can be given to boys and girls. (If a girl has a regular Hearthfire Doll in their inventory, they will be able to play with both that doll and any of the equipped toys.)
Things to note:
May not be compatible with gear that lets you give gifts/gear to kids (they modify the same gift list)
Give your child only one item at a time. Paying more than one may mess up the outfitting process.
(excluding rockinghorse that's from other mods)
If you want to unequip a child's specific equipment, these items can be crafted for free on the tanning rack (as long as you still have the Childcraft book in your inventory) - "Left Hand Not Equipped," "Left Hand Not Equipped," and "A Worn Book That Doesn't Fit." If you give these items to your child as a gift, it will remove the items they have equipped. (They'll definitely give you the "Oh, don't tease me!" dialog box, though, because hey, you took away their toy!)
Unlike the Hearthfire clothes, the toy is gone once you swap it out from your child - I do this to avoid cluttering their inventory. If you want to return it, you must make a new toy.
If your child enters an area where items are automatically removed (for example, taking a bath in one of the houses), the toys may not re-equip when they come out. Just give them a new one.
Crafting items requires:
- Linen wraps and tundra cotton for dolls and stuffed animals
-Firewood for musical instruments
-Books and paper rolls
I tried to make them fairly easy considering there are a lot of different types added.
When children carry items around, the mesh inevitably develops some clipping. I tweaked them to be as close as possible (using vanilla children as models), but they will never be perfect.
These dolls are considered identical to the Hearthfire Dolls, and as long as your daughter has an actual Hearthfire Doll in her inventory, once you give her a Toymania Doll, she will run away and play with both dolls at the same time.
The remaining items will not be marked as dolls and will not trigger her escape game - however, if your daughter has the Hearth Bear doll in her inventory, she will still play with it sometimes. This can cause some weird animations. It's like having a book slapped in your face. You have been warned.
compatibility:
Anshela has specifically designed this mod to not interfere with any adoption quests, however, any mod that changes the list of gifts given to children will be incompatible. If more mods with adoptable children are added, they will work fine as long as one of the normal child voices is used. It should also be compatible with children's overhauls with the same qualifications, including RS Children, and the adorable Argonian girl from TKAA in some screenshots!
Put on your coat!
She also provides Skaal coats for your little ones when it's cold outside! There's a mod out there that does something similar, but she doesn't want to mess with the clothes the kids are wearing at all - so all this mod does is put a coat on top of …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
