About this mod Machine translation

A port of the original poison model, which placed a soft limit on the number of potions that could be consumed at once. Drinking too many potions will cause your toxicity levels to rise, eventually causing you to lose balance and hallucinate visual effects. It is also compatible with all features out of the box.

MOD Description

Let's face it, the vanilla alchemy system is poorly designed. Too many potions have no effect and last so short a time that many are useless. Worst of all, potions are instant and spammy, giving players an unfair advantage. This mod by itself doesn't solve all of these problems, but it's a start.

The main purpose of toxicity is to eliminate players' aversion to spam. Similar to the Witcher series, Toxicity adds a dynamic poison system that effectively limits the number of potions players can ingest at a given time. Drink too much and you'll start to experience adverse effects, such as losing your balance (you'll stumble randomly), and hallucinations in the form of visual effects.

Poison applies to any potions and alchemy related mods, as it does not change anything about the potion's value or effect (with one exception, see below). It also works with all effects, even simulated additions, as Toxicity can dynamically assign toxicity values to agents.

The poison value of a given potion is further dependent on the character's poison resistance, making the racial poison resistance bonus and vanilla snake blood more useful. The poison part also reduces the toxicity produced by the potion, making it a strategic option in the heat of battle.

Finally, toxicity decreases over time with a configurable half-life and can be reduced by drinking a "Cure Poison" potion. Note that this is the only effect of this mod's changes, as the appropriate keywords are not assigned in vanilla.

feature

  • Excess damage in the form of hallucinations and random stumbles; if the toxicity is greater than 100%, you may fall to the ground.
  • Stylish UI Toxicity widget that hides automatically.
  • Depending on the strength of the potion, drinking the potion will slowly increase your alchemy skills.
  • Many features, such as poison widgets, messages, effects and timescales, can be configured in MCM.
  • Compatible with everything out of the box due to its scripted nature, and only had incorrect critical healing poison effects edited.

Install

  • Nothing unusual, but does require SKSE64.
  • Activate mod via MCM menu.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
