Original description slightly updated:

about

This is a visual pattern created for Markarth, not my own pleasure. I'm tired of the mutilated-looking trees that inhabit the city grounds. Instead, I thought some pine might fit in better with the old mountainside, with some floral touches here and there. Not to forget is the eye-candy dwarf ruins on the mountainside - although it has no real purpose at the moment.

Video showcasing the original mod (and a few other mods): (Thanks ArsenalRobert!)

This mod should be fully compatible with any other mod that does not modify the city of Markarth or its surrounding cliffs.

If you're looking for a player home mod with actual quests and a well thought out story, check out our Ironlion's Alfheim Hall mod: He did a really good job setting up the farm to look and feel like it belongs there.

Update log:

V0.3

Fixed a floating pine tree near the warehouse.

Changed broken pipe waterfall effect.

Added new sounds for the same waterfall.

Increase the "flow" of the river after the waterfall - due to the excess water flowing down the broken pipe (which only makes sense).

Adjusted some light sources around town.

Increased the size of large coal basins. They are small coals in a large basin. They should now look better suited to the size of the basin.

Added some new ruins and decorations to the mountain.

HOPEFULLY Fixed an issue where towers would not render correctly in some games.

v0.25

Removed magical floating rocks.

Apothecary & Keep lighting levels around entrance.

Added new coal basin near Ogmund's house.

Tried adding many new insects to lay eggs (which proved difficult to keep them going).

SOMEHOW Missed lights near Silver-blood Inn - now fixed.

Added some lights and modified some.

V0.2

Added lighting to the smelter

Added some new coal basins

All of Markarth's exterior lighting has been adjusted correctly (there is a mod that does this, but I just wanted to make my own adjustments).

Correctly tuned waterfall sounds (finally).

Added some trees.

Fixed some graphical glitches in Dwarven Ruins.

v0.15

Adjusted dwarf pipe waterfall sound.

Suspended coal basins were added to the main defensive walls.

Adds a bit of dwarven destruction to the scenery.

Added more foliage to the south side.

Added more pine trees and some aspen trees.

The moss hanging near the Treasury has shrunk.

Possible errors:

Tilted towers sometimes don't render properly. There have been no reports of other structures.

Fix: Press F5, then F9 and it should appear. Not something I seem to be able to completely fix.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
