About this mod Machine translation

When the player is not a vampire (or werewolf), this mod will cause the player to become seriously ill when they try to free Serana.

Disclaimer: These adjustments are provided as-is. I won't be doing any patches, other releases, merges and/or other pull requests. If you want to change/tweak anything yourself or make a patch, feel free to do so. (See Permissions!)

I won't be making any ports for consoles or Bethesda.net myself, but I will allow others to do so. (See Permissions!)

The LE version can be found here.

The SE version can be found here.

At some point during the Awakening quest in the dawunard questline, you will encounter Serana's tomb in the Dimhollow Crypt.

When you activate her sarcophagus button, your hand will be impaled. However, in vanilla, this has no consequences. So I decided to add one: "Corrupted Blood Curse".

Since Serana is arguably the Volkihar Clan's most important "vampire artifact," I thought it was necessary for them to add some measures to prevent mortals from getting to her.

Corrupted Blood Curse is inspired by the Corruption status effect from Holy: Original Sin 2 and has a similar effect: you will no longer restore health and healing spells and items will deal damage.

For compatibility issues, when the player is a werewolf, they are also immune to the curse.

If you shrink the curse and later become a vampire or werewolf, the curse will also be removed.

But it can be cured like any disease in vanilla. (Cure disease potion or pray at the shrine)

This mod afflicts the player with a severe disease when they try to releasing Serana, when the player is not a vampire (or werewolf).

At a certain point during the Awakening quest in the dawnguard questline, you'll come across Serana's tomb in Dimhollow Crypt.

When you activate the button of her sarcophagus, causing your hand to be impaled. Yet, in Vanilla, this has no consequences. So I decided to add one: "the Corrupted Blood Curse".

As Serana is arguably the most important "vampire artifact" to the Volkihar Clan, I thought it would make sense for them to add some measures to prevent mere mortals from getting access to her.

The Corrupted Blood Curse is inspired by the Decaying status effect from Divinity: Original Sin 2 and has similar effects: You will no longer regen health and healing spells and items will cause damage instead.

For compatibility issues, when the player is a werewolf, they will also be immune to the Curse.

If you contract the Curse and become a vampire or werewolf later on, the Curse will be removed as well.

It can be cured like any disease in Vanilla, though. (Potion of Cure Disease or praying at a shrine)

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
