The main function of this mod is to adjust the starting requirements for missions that only trigger after the player reaches a certain level. This serves several purposes. For example, you might want to delay the start of a Dragonborn or Dawnguard until later in the game, or you might feel that receiving a letter from the Jarl discussing "your fame in Skyrim" is a little strange for your 9th-level character who doesn't yet have a great deed to their name. On the other hand, maybe you've been eyeing that land in Palai, but you can't buy it until you complete a quest that wasn't started before you reached level 22. Maybe you want a specific minion, weapon, or reward that only comes from later missions, or maybe you're just looking for the challenge of completing higher-level missions at a relatively early level. Or maybe you plan to use a level 50+ character and just want to spread the missions out over more levels to increase interest in the later gameplay. Whatever your reasons are earlier or later, it's entirely up to you.

Warning: There is some minor filth in the description below.

I tried to keep these very small, but it's impossible to describe what this mod does without a reference to the quest events.

Additional Information

You can change the requirements for all 19 included quests and 9 world encounters, or you can change just one of them. All default settings used by this mod are vanilla defaults, so all requirements will not change until you decide to change them.

If you want to completely disable a quest, you can set the level requirement to 101. This will actually change the quest's level requirement to 999, effectively disabling that quest or encounter.

Keep in mind that once a task is triggered, changing the settings later will not necessarily stop the task. You should make any required changes before the task begins. There are some exceptions where MCM settings remain useful even after a mission is triggered. For example, the level requirements for the Daedric quest "The Only Cure" can still be adjusted after you encounter a Tormented Refugee to prevent further Tormented encounters.

Unlike one-time missions, most recurring world encounters will allow you to adjust their settings at any time. This is the case with the Dawnguard Vampire attack. Even if you have already started a Dawnguard mission, you can prevent further attacks by setting this value to a value higher than your current level. However, I've also included settings for adjusting the frequency of random vampire attacks, which can also be used to prevent further attacks.

Dawnguard: You can prevent random vampire attacks from destroying the population, or allow a crisis to build by increasing the difference between the start of a v …

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
