A simple Skyrim add-on that allows you to see a staff when the back cover is on.

Welcome to my new mod BackStaves.

This is a little add-on that allows you to display the staff on your back when you put it on.

I usually play a mage character, and this has been bugging me since I've had time to create new mods and play the game again, trying out Skyrim Special Edition for the first time.

If you like the mod, don't forget to endorse it, it's always encouraging

Version 2.0.0:

First, I ported the mod to Oldrim:

The mod is now compatible with mods that add new staves, the first time you block a stave that is not registered in the script by default, a window will pop up asking you which grid should be displayed. If the mod uses a custom mesh, you must create a new mesh and select the "This is a custom mesh" option, then the script will wait 15-30 seconds for you to equip the "armored version" of the crew, and if everything goes smoothly, the new mesh will be registered and used as usual. I will be making plugins for known mods like Monster mod or Beyond Skyrim Bruma, I will also upload a tutorial showing you how to create a custom mesh if you want, for those who already know how to use the mesh, just create a new armor with AA attached. But it will have to wait (I hope it's not that long xD).

The configuration functionality has been reshaped, adding a new option to display people in the center, as well as troubleshooting options for customizing added staves.

Created a plugin that adds 4 unique staves to the game. This plug-in has a staff on the back as the master file, so you need both the master file and the plug-in.

Whirlwind Staff: Creates a whirlwind, dealing damage and throwing it into the air.

Last Season's Staff: Freezes the target and deals frost damage. A frozen target cannot move.

Staff of Eternal Fire: Explosive flames set the target on fire, dealing fire damage once per second for a long time.

Soul Eater: Deals magic damage. If this effect kills the target, his soul becomes trapped in the person who granted the effect.

Version 1.2:

Added new options to the configuration functionality: now if the staves conflict with another mod, you can change the slots of the staves to show the staves even if you are not using them, or to show the staves only in the left/right hand. up to you.

Problems you may find:

Sometimes people will show up even if you don't have them staffed, if you don't want people to show up take advantage of the configuration feature to remove them.

There is no need to remove the mod, but it is strongly recommended that you uninstall the mod through the configure function.

FAQ

Is it compatible with visible favorites?

Yes it should be, it should also be compatible with almost all mods since no original records were touched when creating this mod. But the staves will use the [53] and [54] slots, so if you have a mod like bandolier installed and you are currently using that slot, the staves you will be using will replace that slot. In the new version, you can change your staves to the [44] and [43] slots, so you have more options to customize your character.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
