SPELLCRAFTING FOR SKYRIM
Create and save your own custom spells during normal gameplay by combining over 40 different magic effects. With the ability to change duration, target type, damage amount, target level affected and more for each magic effect, there are literally thousands of possible combinations.
Each crafted spell can have up to five magical effects. You can combine a destruction effect with an illusion to create a rage spell that also damages its target. Or combine the Restoration effect with Transmutation to create a spell that increases a minion's armor and strengthens their one-handed and interception skills. Or add a magic binding bow on top of the archery enhancement and muffle effect to make a perfect assassin spell.
In order to be able to craft new spells, you must unlock each spell using vanilla spells after installing this mod. When you unlock a cantrip, you will be notified and then you can go to the Mage Academy's Spell Workstation located on the second floor of the Hall of Achievements.
Your imagination is the only limit! .
**Requires SKSE 1.7.3 (or higher) and SkyUI 4.1 (or higher to use the MCM menu). Revisions (>=0.9.6.1) also require Dawnguard and Dragonborn.
SkllCrafting for Skyrim 1.0.1 Update
how it works
Added a spell altar to the Hall of Attainment in Winterhold. Activating an altar will allow you to choose from a list of magical effects you have mastered and combine them into new spells. You can have up to 25 custom spells at one time. Once you create a spell, you can name your new spell and have it appear in the spell menu with that spell.
Learn Cantrips to master magical effects. Every magic effect has a cantrip; learning a cantrip's magic effect allows you to use that effect when creating new spells. Cantrips can be learned in two ways. You can purchase Cantrip Tomes from Mell Amborsius, the Keeper of the Spell Altar - a new vendor that has been added to the Winterhold staff. Or you can learn Cantrips from the normal game by using spells with similar magic effects from the original game. Whenever you cast Sparks or Chain Lightning, you'll likely learn the Shock Damage Cantrip if you don't already know it. However, not all magic effects can be learned this way - so be sure to check out what Melrin sells from time to time.
A complete library is provided describing each magic effect, all possible variations, and associated casting costs and perks. Check out the bookshelves around the Spell Altar to learn about the books.
Spellcraft Journal
The first time you use a spell altar, be sure to pick up your spell manual. The Journal will let you view your current mastered Cantrips, check the details of spells you've crafted, and forget about custom spells. Reading a journal will activate menus to guide you through each activity. The ability to forget about refined spells lets you get rid of spells you're not happy with, or create more powerful versions of your favorite spells as your magic levels increase.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
