Prior to his execution, Roggvir was a guard who watched over Solitude's main gates, and thus had considerable responsibility for ensuring that the city was secure against all possible intrusions and to stop escaping troublemakers.

However, Roggvir is a northerner and therefore proud of his people. Additionally, he saw Ulfric Stormcloak as a better ruler of Skyrim than High King Torygg, a belief that was further reinforced when the Aldmeri Dominion was defeated by the Empire but the Platinum Concord was exchanged for an uneasy peace. Suppress any form of Talos worship. For Rogweir, he sees this as complete reliability and a convenient excuse for Aldemiri to destroy any dissent to his rule in Tamriel.

In addition to his outing duties as a doorman, and as a reward for his secret loyalty to the Jarl, Roggvir also acquired the Lucky Skeever, secretly owned by Windhelm Jarl, as one of his several properties in the province, and used it as his residence in the city and lowlands.

Now, when you first enter the city, you quickly become a witness to Roggvir's execution, with all eyes on him as the ax is raised... and later on you realize that even the dead can speak, and obtaining the key means you must investigate around the seized property.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
