Adapt new foods from char to caco, add several recipes, make drinkable coffee and empty bottles - all in a day's work

What does this do?

Mostly, it just changes the impact of the charr's new food. They will no longer restore health, but thanks to a complete alchemy overhaul, their effects will be similar to Skyrim foods.

It also fixes several minor issues, such as...

Coffee cups used to be a chore that meant nothing because you could clearly see the coffee inside. Now there is a food product with the same brand and model that can even help you overcome fatigue (if you need CACO).

The empty bottle was once a food product. Since I personally cannot condone an act like drinking from an actual bottle, the empty bottle now has a miscellaneous twin.

In both cases, with Coffee and Bottle, the items in the main file are still technically there, but now you should only see them when searching in the console or something. All placements of all items in the world are exchanged with whoever is more suitable for the twins.

There are several food products that do not have appropriate labels or sounds or have inappropriate labels or sounds. There's nothing exciting here, and most of the time there's no audible slurping recovery when consuming.

A few small oddities are left in, not to clutter the mission (is venison an ingredient?), so don't be too alarmed. It might be safe to change, but I'd rather not interfere right now.

From now on, the wine is drunk.

Red Wine has had a slight name change, so it's unlikely to be confused with CACO's Village Red Wine (several other items have also had name changes). Plus, you don't have to highlight the entire bottle again, rejoice.

Several recipes have been added so cooking is now also a thing in The Shire. Some recipes require a cooking pot, some are oven-made, some are easy, some require cooking levels, and all have stock conditions, so there's less confusion in crafting menus.

Not all Shire foods have recipes, or are involved, just the ones that make sense, ymmv.

The Shire's level list has been slightly edited. For example, exclude sealed envelopes (why is this being sold everywhere?). Added possibility to purchase Skyrim food in The Shire.

For CACO 2.0.1 (or 2.0.6? DLL doesn't matter here) and The Shire 1.3.

You don't need this patch to run The Shire with CACO, but it will provide a more even experience. ESP files are marked ESL, so it is a lightweight plugin.

If something doesn't work, please let me know in the comments or bug section.

TL;DR: Tweaks and fixes to Shire food, not mandatory but might be fun.

What does this do?

Mostly it just changes the effects of new food items from The Shire. They would no longer restore health, but would instead have effects similar to the ones Skyrim food has thanks to Complete Alchemy Overhaul.

It also fixes several small issues, such as...

Coffee Cup used to be a miscellaneous item, which made zero sense, since you could clearly see the coffee inside of it. Now there is a food item with the same make and model, and it even can help you overcome tiredness for a bit (if you use CACO's needs).

Empty Bottle used to be a food item. Since I personally cannot condone such behaviour as drinking actual bottles, the empty bottle now has a miscellaneous twin.

In both instances, with both coffee and bottle, the items from master file still technically exist, but now you should only be able to see them when searching in console or something. All placements of those items in the world were swapped with their more adequate twins.

Several food items did not have appropriate tags or sounds or had inappropriate ones. Nothing exciting here, mostly just absent sound on consumption. Slurping's restored.

Some small weird things are left as they were, not to mess something up with quests (venison is an ingredient?), don't be too alarmed. It may be safe to change, but I'd rather not interfere for now.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
