feature
+Blacksmith provides tempering and repair services
Talk to the blacksmith to forge or repair equipped weapons and armor. The price of tempers is affected by the standard things that affect price, and is based on the base cost of the weapon. The level at which the blacksmith can be trained is based on your level, but scales slowly enough so that the smith doesn't become irrelevant.
+ NPCs have exercise equipment
Equipment equipped by NPCs has a chance to be tempered. This is done in a way that doesn't render Smith completely useless. However, you will occasionally see some very high temper level items drop from high level enemies. This makes fighting these enemies more valuable. There was no chest-touching robbery. Currently the only way to provide temper equipment is as an equipped item, but I'm working on a hack to provide this effect in chests in the future.
+Weapons and armor degrade with use.
The amount of weapon and armor downgrade is based on their weapon type/armor type (immaterial), whether you attack/attack power, or your associated skill or skill. Using a warhammer to attack an NPC's attack power will cause more damage than using a bow to attack your enemies. Your weapons only degrade, they don't break with use.
Provides +MCM to adjust settings to your liking
All features can be disabled as well as zoom if desired.
+Performance
Scripts are very lightweight and can only be run on event triggers. Scripts can only be run on actors other than the player to moderate their loot. This does mean that only the player's items will degrade, weapons will degrade when used rather than when hit. This quirk makes sense for ranged weapons, and ultimately supports things like weapon degradation when bashing boxes and practicing on training dummies.
compatibility
Known incompatibilities
Predation and degradation.
generally
Should be compatible with Loot Overhaul and similar mods. This mod does not touch level lists in any way.

The amount weapons and armor degrade is based on their weapon type / armor type (not material), whether you're power attacking / being power attacked, and your skill in the related skill or skills. Taking hits from a NPC power attacking with a War Hammer will do much more temper damage than an enemy hitting you with a bow. Your weapons simply degrade, they will not break with use.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
