Oldrim Original Mod-Tarmac-Dog Follower Mod

Tarmac is a hunting dog left in the Markarth mines by his previous owner. Players will receive a letter via courier to begin the fetch quest. The owner's journal can be found in the Tarmac's inventory and adds some backstory to give a better feel for the hound's character.

Tarmac is an essential minion that will take the place of an animal companion. I also added the Light Foot perk so he doesn't set any traps and has high stealth skills.

Story background:

Tarmac was formerly owned by an orc named Gortwog. Together they travel across the sky and beyond, taking risks in order to survive. However, all journeys must come to an end, so Govorg decided to leave the poor tarmac behind and return to his first place in Markas.

The dragonborn will receive a letter from Banning (the man selling the hound) saying that the dog needs a new and capable owner who can provide him with a new adventure through the wilds of Skyrim.

uninstall:

Make sure to unzip Tarmac before uninstalling to prevent errors. Make a new save after dismissal and exit the game. Uninstall the mod from Vortex, load the newly saved game, and save again. It should now be uninstalled correctly.

notes:

The dog's armor was a simple color (like Fort Dawnguard's Bran), I just made it a little darker. I plan to add more textures or no armor and add vanilla textures to be compatible with the dog texture replacement mod.

Feedback and comments are greatly appreciated.

Thanks for trying.

Requires Dawnguard DLC

Oldrim original mod - Tarmac - A Dog Follower Mod

Tarmac is a hound that can be found in Markarth mines that was left there by his previous owner. The player would receive a letter through the courier to start the acquisition quest. The owner's journal can be found in the inventory of Tarmac, adding a little backstory  to better feel the character of the hound.

Tarmac is an essential follower that will occupy the slot for an animal companion. I also added the Light Foot perk so he won't set any traps, and a high skill in sneaking.

BACKSTORY:

Tarmac is previously owned by an Orc named Gortwog. Together, they journey through the lands of Skyrim for the purpose of surviving while adventuring. However, all journeys must come to an end so Gortwog decided to leave poor Tarmac back where he got him in the first place, in Markarth.

The Dragonborn will receive a letter from Banning (the one who sells war hounds) telling that the dog needs a new capable master that can provide him another adventure through the wilds of Skyrim.

UNINSTALL:

Make sure to dismiss Tarmac first before uninstall to prevent errors. Make a new save after dismissing then exit the game. Uninstall the mod from Vortex, load your new saved game, and save again.  Now it should be properly uninstalled.

NOTES:

The dog has a simple recolor of the armoured dog texture (ex. Bran from Fort Dawnguard), I simply made it a little bit darker. I'm planning to add more retextures or with no armour, and add vanilla textures to be compatible with dog texture replace mods.

Feedback and comments are greatly appreciated.

Thanks for trying it out.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
